So my mom is always like, "When are you going to send ultrasound pictures?" and on and on. She starts calling the first day I get home. I actually almost feel guilty that I don't scan them in that day or whatever, the way she goes on about it.

So today I actually sent her all of the pictures and added the most recently belly picture. You know, she's far away, maybe it would make her feel like a part of things.

I got an e-mail back. It said:

Hey, thanks. How are you feeling?

Yeah, thanks Mom. Maybe I should just keep my business on the internet. Y'all are way more excited about stuff.

I prefer my internet family to my real family most of the time too! Sorry she wasn't more enthusiastic.

I know it's e-mail and all, but sheesh! One little thing about the actual baby or the belly or SOMETHING wouldn't have been so hard.

I really wanted to write back, "Hey, you're welcome. I'm fine."

Ain't that the truth. Though it would be nice to have even one of you somewhere in my general vicinity to be all excited in person!

Two things: I know you wanted squeeing and all that, but a) she's expressing her enthusiasm in asking for the pictures and 2) she asked about how you're feeling. That's a big deal, especially as time goes on and people are going to start only asking how the baby is. Believe me.

I know you wanted more excitement from her, but she's expressing it in her way: Where are the picture where are the pictures what's the news i'm excited so send me pictures.

My mom was like that, and it was just her way of saying "yay grandbaby" :)

The thing is, she never /sounds/ excited. But this isn't a new problem. I mean, we're not terribly close and we talk maybe once every two-three weeks. But I guess I was hoping to rate more than a 2 sentence e-mail, esp. when she wrote me three paragraphs about how her work was involved in Extreme Makeover - Home Edition.

Although I /am/ surprised that she asked me how I was feeling. Usually she doesn't. Usually she just talks about herself until she says she has to go or I say I have to go.

Whatever, it's not important. I'm sure I'm just feeling sorry for myself today and someone will chime in about how I should be lucky for just having a Mom and on and on and on. I just really wish there was ONE person in my actual personal non-online life who was actively jazzed about our having a baby.
