Old habits die hard, I suppose. But it adds up so quickly! So quickly, I say!

The plan was just to head down to the mall to fill up our cat litter bucket at Petco... and then I made the mistake of adding, "and stop into the mall a bit so I can get some better-fitting underwear."

Well, the good news is that we got both cat litter and underwear.

We also got a cat toy and cat treats at Petco. And underwear for Jen, and a new shirt for me (Target), and some toiletries for Jen (Target), and some t-shirts for Jen (Old Navy), and two adorable onesies (Baby Gap). I am now calling a MAJOR moratorium on us going into Baby Gap, because not only do I want to buy EVERYTHING in there for babies, I also want all of their maternity clothes and we all know that Gap = $$$$. Dear God, but that stuff is so dang cute! I just can't pay more for a baby's outfit than I would spend on my own outfit.

However, the redeeming thing about going into Baby Gap (aside from aforementioned two cute onesies that were in the clearance section, one of which was adorned with a monkey!) was that the nice lady behind the register knew I was pregnant! I wanted to just kiss her.

Clean Fest 2007 continues! Jen brought a bunch of stuff down to the basement, we hung up a bunch of clothes in the baby's closet and moved more of the baby stuff into the closet so it's not all over the house. Dishes are done, kitchen is clean, laundry is going, cat boxes are done, garbage and recycle are out, Jen's clothes are put away, and we hung actual art up in our bedroom finally. (We've been here how long?) Later this week we will hang art in the guest room, put the freecycled bedskirt on the guest bed, and finally install the tie-backs for the guest room curtains.

The next big project will of course be painting the baby's room, assembling all of the furniture, and hanging art in there as well. I can't believe the third trimester starts on Wednesday!

Also on deck: painting the dining room, trying to do SOMETHING with our crappy yard, assembling the china cabinet that has been sitting in boxes in the living room since early December, hanging art in the bathroom, and organizing the basement a little bit. I hope nesting is a months-long process! (And that it hits Jen, too.)

Spendy-ness is a trait we share, for sure! One thing that's made it more manageable for us is hitting the two "chain" kids resale shops - Kid2Kid and Children's Orchard. I don't know if they have them out your way, but when you visit the city, try to take time to visit them (I go to the ones in Natick/Framingham, but there are multiple locations of each) They are both great for finding babyGap, Old Navy, and tons of great name stuff in really good condition for SUPER cheap! I was lusting over some babyGap overalls at the mall for like $30+, and then found them that same afternoon at the resale shop for $5! Ka-Ching! :)

Of course, I think I've already read that you go to thrift stores, so this is not news to you, but I thought I'd throw out those two stores as having particularly good stuff. Oh, and the Kid2Kid in Natick (Route 9) has a pretty decent maternity resale section as well - that's where I got half my stuff!

Anyway, congrats on getting so much done - the nesting phase is fun, and will eventually infect Jen as well, I'm sure... :)

I love thrifting! We don't have those stores that I know of out here but when we make our next trek to the Land of Beans I will have to check it out. I've also heard some good things about a chain called Savers - should look and see if any of those are local as well. We have a kid consignment shop here in Northampton but I haven't actually been there yet. WTF? Crazy, I know.

We're very fortunate in that several friends of ours have had girls in the last couple of years, and we are actually swimming in infant clothes. It's just when you find that thing that you just HAVE to have or whatever... what can I say? My kid needs monkeys. :)

I also know that with two grandmothers-to-be who are DYING to buy baby girl clothes, we certainly don't have to buy any frilly dresses EVER. I'm sure that will be covered. Check.

I'm lucky, too, that I've been able to borrow a ton of maternity clothes from friends - and that they're similar size to me. A lot of the stuff is heavier-weight stuff, which has been GREAT recently but as I am dying for spring, I am also longing for some lighter stuff. I'm probably good for a while (thanks to the Florida trip) but sometimes you just get tired of wearing the same 6 shirts. I also have been wearing my regular shirts even when they look a wee bit ridiculous. What can I say? I like my own stuff.

I really just want the Gap Fairy to come visit me, that's all! :)

We went to Petco too! It was funny, we were driving home from the park and I asked Tugger (who was crashed out in the backseat) if he wanted to go to PetSmart. No response. So I asked if he wanted to go to Petco instead and his head popped right up!

So we did. Got him a collapsible water bowl for when we're at the park and a retractable leash.

Wow, he has a shopping preference!

I actually prefer non-chain stores but there don't seem to be too many of those in the world of pet supplies. But you can't beat the refillable 30lb litter bucket - and today it was $4 off for whatever reason!

I buy his food at one of the specialty stores because the chains don't carry it, but there's such a markup at some of the specialty stores that I prefer to buy supplies at the chains.

I hear ya. Cats don't need as many supplies, thankfully.

I would imagine that I would probably go koo-koo insane buying clothing if I was pregnant. Yay for shopping, though!!

There's someone that comes to visit me (no not my period lolzorz roflcopter) and when he's here, I always spend WAY too much money. But it's fun, isn't it? :)

I do enjoy spending a little money. But I would enjoy it more if we had more of it lying around. I hate dipping into the savings to buy stuff. Argh! Must! Make! More! Money!

Funny how art in the bathroom is so rare, given that it's a place everyone visits daily.

True! I guess I just think of it as "all business." Although we do have monkeys on the shower curtain. That's like art, right?
