judecorp: (knocked up)

I saw the midwife that I love this morning for my monthly appointment. It's nice to a) go in when I'm feeling good instead of due to some dramatic incident and b) go in and not get an ultrasound. I feel like a regular old pregnant person instead of some Complications Monster.

She said everything was perfect, perfect, perfect, which of course makes me happy, happy, happy. I had to do the glucose drink this morning which was a little sweet but since I never drink soda (or even juice really) it was kind of a little treat. I don't want to drink it every day but I just kept pretending it was orange soda. (When I was a kid I loved orange soda.) Here's hoping the numbers come back okay!

Blood pressure was good, I guess urine was good because she didn't say anything, and, get this, I only gained FOUR POUNDS last month. How is this possible? I am not going to knock it. So far since the first time I went to this midwife practice I have gained 13lbs. (11 if you start at my IUI day weight). Only 13 lbs. in 27 weeks! Amazing! She basically told me I was pretty awesome. (This is why I love her.)

Because everything was fine and dandy, she says I can have one more monthly visit before I move to bi-weeklies. I'll go back May 1st, and will be 30w6d! WOW!!

~//~

It's hard for me to believe that only a couple of years ago, at my heaviest, I weighed 14lbs. more than I weigh /right now/ at 26w6d. I could end this pregnancy right around where I started becoming the Incredible Shrinking Woman!

That's so great you've only gained 13 pounds! I'm still mad that I gained 45 with Maia and after had her only lost 25 of those 45 :/

Can't believe how fast this is going! You're going to have a little girl soon!

Well, I still have plenty of time to gain more weight! Don't worry! :) I got lucky because I lost all that weight from metformin (almost 30lbs) beforehand.

Dude, don't tell me how soon it is. I am starting to freak out. The third trimester starts tomorrow! :O We have so much to do!

That's so great you lost 30 pounds from the metformin! It didn't do anything for me unfortunately in the weight loss department. Are you still taking the metformin?

3rd trimester tomorrow! I just am in shock. You're life will be so different very, very soon!

Do you plan to have an epidural during labor?

Date: 2007-04-03 06:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
I took metformin for a year before we even started trying, then doubled my dose and took it for almost another year. I just kept melting away, it was nuts.

I started tapering down at around 16w and stopped completely at 20w. I was concerned because I kept losing weight, that's when I decided to really stop. Hopefully I will not end up with GD!

My plan is to shoot for a natural birth. But we all know how well planning has suited me during this pregnancy so I am open to an epidural if I can't handle it. I'm going to try really hard, though!

I totally craved orange pop (yes, it's pop, not soda!) when I was pregnant. We even changed our favorite movie theater because there's only one in this area that has orange pop instead of "orange drink" on their fountain.

Mmmmmm. Orange.

I am not afraid to start a flame war here, people. It is SODA. Soda soda soda. I love you, but you are wrong.

I could easily drink a lot of soda, but I gave it up years ago and I think I'm better off for it. But if I started, it would be a slippery slope!

I have heard ONE person say that in all of my life - and he was old old-school Southie.

I don't think anyone says that anymore but him.

Sounds like a good appointment all around. Hope those glucose #'s are good. I always heard that between 22-27 lbs was an ideal amount to gain during pregnancy. Most everyone I know who was pregnant gained around 23 lbs. Can you imagine if you were like some of these people who say they gain like 60 some lbs! YIKES!!!!

Keep up the good work! That baby girl will be here sooner than you think!

Well, I think it's fine to gain however much as long as you're able to give it back. Some people just gain more... but then other people use pregnancy as a way to eat junk for 9 months. It's a balancing act.

I will probably end up 30+, but that's okay with me. :)

I'm sorry, but that will never work. I nearly dropped dead the first time someone (Clint, I think) asked me, "What kind of Coke do you want?" and offered things like ginger ale.

I'm sorry but that's just crazy talk.

It's not crazy talk!

It's SOUTHERN talk! :P Pop is a parent. Soda is baking soda. Coke is all carbonated drinks. :P

I am trying very hard to enjoy it. I know this is my only time to be pregnant and I really really want to make a big deal of it. I just feel like I'm making a big deal out of it by myself, you know?

I love you because you get it.

I'm psyched that your appointment went so well!

I'm hoping my pregnancy will start to feel like it's moving along a bit faster now that my morning sickness is over...

From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
I'm sorry you got so sick. I was fortunate to have had no morning sickness really. Then again, I made up for it with bleeding and the lost twin and all of that. But I never got sick!

The second trimester really seems to fly by.
