Hello, locals! Also near-locals, not-so-locals who like to travel, etc.
We finally got our estimate for painting the baby's room and it is RIDICULOUS. As in, way too much money to even remotely be feasible. (I was trying to give Jen a painting break and actually, you know, get to spend some time together.) So we're back to square one with Jen doing a boatload of painting. Unless you, yes YOU, want to save us!
Is anyone free next weekend (April 28-29) who also happens to at least moderately like painting? We will have all of the supplies, we will have the room sanded and taped already, and we will provide pizza or other food substitutes.
Especially wanted: tall people (painting a ceiling), nice people, people who love us, people who have messy clothes, short people, people with experience, people with no experience, people who don't like painting and want to come over and entertain me while Jen will not let me paint, people who like primer, people who like yellow, people who think we are cute - ALL PEOPLE.
Please? We're nice!

Date: 2007-04-19 12:53 pm (UTC)And I'd say from the process you described that it might take more than a single day because the layers of paint will need drying time especially where you need to do the edges where ceiling and wall meet.
Just in case you do have too many people, I'd suggest that you have materials for a couple other projects that need doing so you can break up the group rather than having people stand around.

Date: 2007-04-19 02:11 pm (UTC)I also have the chiselling and recementing of the foundation seam that someone can tackle if they desire. And, if you guys and Wiley is there, I may get you all to help me put the washer and dryer up on some wood for future safety against puddles.
Also I still have insulation foam that needs to be trimmed down from the mouse fiasco...
And if that isn't enough;) We can put together the baby furniture! Except for the crib though I think - 'cause that would have to be put together in the room itself.
But we do have other stuff if people get, I dunno...bored;)

Date: 2007-04-19 11:43 am (UTC)Well, maybe if this was our second kid Jen would be way more chill about All Things Chemical. Actually, it's not just chemicals. She won't let me carry hardly anything either and acts as Food Police on a regular basis. It's cute. I think that it gives her big tough-girl pleasure to run around doing all kinds of home labor.
I can't say that I mind, though. I actually really like painting but I can't handle the smell these days. It seems 20x stronger. Still, maybe if it's actually NICE out and we can open windows (what a novelty!)...
Last time I went outside and painted the panels of the china cabinet. At least that's something!
