Yesterday my Secret Stork from [livejournal.com profile] july2007babies sent me a present from our baby registry. Man, those cute little hooded towels NEVER GET OLD. I mean, I want one for me - grown-up size. Please? I have a small head. Also, my Secret Stork is awesome because she sent my kid the CHICKEN HAT that I have been drooling over. I shall have to take a photo. I mean, CHICKEN HAT. Also on the list of things I want for myself.

Former Coworker Gina sent us a whole breastfeeding extravaganza, including a Boppy and cover, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, and some Lansinoh cream. Man, that girl is always thinking. I just love my crunchy friends.

Speaking of former coworkers, or at least former work, I don't know how anyone can seriously work in Early Intervention and then get pregnant without going nuts. For starters, I was always obsessively watching ultrasounds looking for things like anencephaly and heart defects. And then when I hit 20 weeks I was obsessed about micropreemies, because I worked with so dang many. Now that I've passed the micropreemie stage, all I can think about is IUGR - which gets worse every time someone tells me how "tiny" I am. Because, you know, I can rattle off causes for IUGR like nobody's business and let me tell you, none of them are good.

Too Much Information Girl strikes again!

Here is the chicken hat: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2452386&cp=&sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2255957&origkw=barn+yard+cap&kw=barn+yard+cap&parentPage=search

It's nothing YOU or any specific person says that worries me. If it was just a couple of people it wouldn't be a big deal at all! It's just neverending. I think I have had EVERY kind of person, including medical personnel, comment on how small I am every step of the way.

It's just something that gets to someone when they've had a loss and everything, you know?

The hooded towels are cute but they're not NEARLY as absorbent as regular bath towels, so I never used any of them and ended up just getting rid of them. I guess some people like them, but they just didn't seem to absorb the water very well to me.

I haven't seen any thick ones... I guess people didn't get us any and I didn't go out trying to find any. I'm too cheap to buy this baby much of anythign besides clothes. :-) I used to have the excuse that we'd use whatever on the "next baby" as justification to buy stuff, but I don't have that excuse anymore!

Man, who cares? I'm vain and they are CUTE. I have other towels and I can dry the kid off and the shove the hoodie on her! It will be GREAT!

I want a hoodie towel!

Oh and you shouldn't worry yourself sick so much (I know, easier said than done). I was talking to someone at playgroup on Wed, and she said that at full term, she could LIE ON HER STOMACH, and she could even suck her stomach all the way in so she didn't even look pregnant. There is no way I could do that! And her kids are perfectly normal. You're not exactly a huge person to begin with, so you could be making a smaller baby (i've had 2 9 lb babies and this one is expected to be around the same) or it could just be positioning (probably the most likely) that in photos you look smaller than we expect.

So just *breathe* and *relax*, your baby is fine and will be completely normal. :-)

I am not normally a worrying sort of person. And I wouldn't think I was small at all if I didn't have 978243979845791 million people telling me all the time! It's just frustrating.

Wow, that's a lot of people. You really get around. ;-)

Sorry, I hadn't read any comments on this post before I commented with my joke about a belly showdown, I was just trying to get a laugh (or a chuckle at least).

I'm still worrying about my baby not turning from transverse to head down. At playgroup today, someone tried to make me feel better by saying that her son was transverse almost all the pregnancy. And did turn but it was still a repeat c-section (IIRC, she wanted a vbac). And then someone they knew just had her 3rd child and it wasn't the birth she had wanted (transfer and c-sec at hospital I think it was). so come on baby, TURN already!

I am super popular. ;)

I guess I'm just wicked sensitive to the size thing because I'm concerned about my kid. I know that everything COULD be totally fine but I also know that it's possible that it's not, you know? I just want some sort of answers.

Good luck with the turning. Mine did, so can yours!

It's always possible something's not right, even things that you'd never expect. But I would bet money on everything being just fine with your baby. :-)

Yay for turning babies, hooray! I guess I still have time for mine to turn but it still worries me, ya know?

You have time! Lots of time!

And maybe they're wrong? I found out today at my u/s that what I thought was my kid's foot poking me is actually her knees AND elbows (would explain the pain), and it has probably been confusing people for the head. My kid may not have been transverse after all! (Although could have been.)

I am sending flipping thoughts for you.

Sorry if you already know all this, but you might want to talk to an endocrinologist or PCOS-knowledgeable OB about breastfeeding and PCOS. (There is also a girl on [livejournal.com profile] adopt_a_mom under [livejournal.com profile] cerulean_me who is really knowledgeable.) I didn't realize until my supply dried up at six weeks that PCOS can really limit your supply. Metformin can help but I'm not sure when you would need to start taking it; my doctor had taken me off of it after the first trimester. Anyway, just wanted to pass on the info based on my experience. Hopefully you won't have any problems and will know exactly what to do if you do!

Yeah... I don't have an OB or anything but I know from a friend with PCOS that she has had a lot of supply issues. I am really nervous about it because I /really/ want to be able to breastfeed. My friend takes Metformin and domperidone and she has to supplement but is still able to nurse... and if that's what I have to do then that's what I have to do.

So what have you decided to do about it?

The best hooded towels I've used were homemade from regular bath towels. Laurel's favorite one was sewn by my parents' neighbor when she was a newborn and hangs right next to the tub on a giant suction hook so she can hang it up as soon as she's done drying off.

If you'd like a particular animal, I'd be happy to make you a grownup-sized hooded towel with one of those OMGZgiant!!! bath sheets they sell at Bed Bath and Beyond. And one for the baby too, of course.

I just made a bear-eared bathrobe for my nephew when he's a wee bit bigger (it's size 18 months and he's in size 9-12 mos right now) and I'm about to make a rabbit-eared one for my high school friend's daughter. Towel-based stuff is quick and fun to sew! (:

Oh my gosh - could you REALLY make me a grown-up sized hooded towel? Honestly? I am so not choosy, it could be any color, any animal. I will even pay you!!

That is so awesome!

If you'd used a Boppy cover in the first place, you wouldn't be knocked up!
