Estimated weight: 4lbs 7oz (49th percentile)

There was plenty of fluid, there was a VERY head down baby with hair on her head, and everything looked good. We don't have the "official" word from the midwives or anything but the ultrasound tech said everything looked great.

I honestly don't know where 4lb 7oz of baby is hiding in my little gut. I think I might have a tilted uterus because the tech found baby's butt to be higher on my abdomen than the midwives have been measuring. I can't believe there's a baby butt so high in my gut and I can't even tell.

It was a good time and definitely worth it. We got to fall madly in love with our kid all over again. What I thought was a stray foot poking me was actually her knees and elbows, which would explain why it hurts so much sometimes.

Yay baby!

Yeah, I figured it was a dang good chance everything was cool too. But do you want to say "What if..." for 7 weeks? I am way too psycho for that.

It must be so cool to see the kids chilling out together. Our little girl is so big now we can't see where the other one used to be, and I don't know if there is anything still in there or not. It would have been cool to have our twins.

Well, usually ultrasounds are like this: See this blob, it's a kidney. See this bigger blob, that's the stomach. Look, a hand! (Looks like a blob.)

So yesterday was, See that blurry stuff right there? Your baby has hair.

I can't say it's obvious to me but I will take her word for it. :) She also showed us how our kid's gut was moving up and down as she practiced breathing with the amniotic fluid. THAT was cute.

49th % is good... Greg's been in the 50th% his whole life (except at birth, go figure). Now you can relax with no worries. :-)

Honestly I don't know where I was hiding 9 lb of massive baby with either of my kids. ha ha. ;-)

Yep, I think smack in the middle is a-okay with me. I'm not exactly a large person myself and I come from a long line of small people. (Although I'm pretty sure the donor was 6'/200lbs.)

It's amazing that this large amount of... baby mass is just living in my gut.

I'm glad too. We decided it was very very worth it, even if insurance doesn't pay. (Which they should, but you never know.)

I'm glad we went, too. Now I think I can rest easy (HA HA HA) for the next 7+ weeks. Yeah right, as if that is going to happen.

But "too small" is one more thing I can check off my list.

I can't wait to see the baby, either. Well, I can wait until July. But then? It's on.

Hi! I just popped over there to see what you are up to. Heavy stuff. This is all such heavy stuff. (I tend to think it shouldn't be, and hate that society makes it so, but there you have it.) Please let me know if there is anything I can do, say, whatever for you and C. I will even do a little dance for you! :)

Wishing you lots of luck! (I added you.)

YAY!!!!

And people really need to shut the eff up about you being "small." This is such a lesson in "women carry differently." Maybe your other organs are just more willing to get out of the way so your baby belly doesn't stick out as much? Who knows?

I'm really happy to hear this!

Date: 2007-05-18 01:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] judecorp.livejournal.com
Man, I'm with you. For REAL. For a little while I actually tried to /explain/ to people why this wasn't helpful, but it got damned tiring to tell people in my weeks-of-20 that "Hey, you know, we lost a baby early on and had a pretty traumatic first trimester so really the LAST thing we want to hear is that we don't look pregnant. Can you LIE or something? Please?" So eventually we agreed to suck it up and smile, and not try to shoot people with laser eyes and play the "dead baby" card.

But now I feel like I can say, "Shut yo mouth, my kid weighs over 4.5 lbs in there somewhere, so stick it!" Which in its own way is more empowering than being all "poor me had a rough time, be nice." So I feel good.

Obviously I don't have organs. I am becoming convinced of this. Bladder aside, I don't really feel ANY of the stuff like "kicks in the ribs" (even though the tech showed us the feet there), difficulty breathing, etc. Apparently my lungs disappeared when I got pregnant, thus the extra room.

Can I just tell you how excited I am that people seem to be getting knocked up right and left right now? It's like Global Dyke Domination or something.

Wow, that is amazing! Ditto for my friends [livejournal.com profile] hopemcg and [livejournal.com profile] meglett - their gorgeous daughter weighed 5lbs. On the way home I kept saying, "Wow, almost as much as Quinn." So strange that there is THAT MUCH BABY hiding in there somewhere.

Yeah, that's what I said. "Wow, almost as big as Quinn already!" You know, it's a damned shame that we haven't met Quinn yet. We're going to have to get to Cbus sometime because I haven't met my fake niece and she is 1 already!!

I am a huge Quinn fan.
