I wanted to introduce myself and let you know that I've added you as a friend, if you don't mind. We have a bazillion friends in common (peas, of course, at the heart of most of them), and I actually know Eryn too. Well, my partner, Rebecca, knows her better through her blog, but I met Eryn at a work conference last year. Anyway, I feel like between all of the people we know in common, and the fact that you and Jen are about to have a baby (oh congratuatlions! so exciting!) and Rebecca and I are in our parental planning phase, I wanted to add you so I could glean wisdom and offer support and encouragement.
How exciting that you and Rebecca are moving into uncharted territory! I always think that those first stages of going from "not planning" to "planning" are some of the most exciting, not to mention the most optimistic. I hope you guys are enjoying it. :)
I always knew we had a lot of friends in common because I recognize that smiling face and see pictures of you scattered throughout the blogosphere. But I didn't know you had connections to Eryn as well. How fun! She is one of my favorite people of all. :) (You also know zuzu, who was one of my first LJ friends (yikes) 6 years ago, and rainbowslinky, whom I have known for years and years. So exciting!)
So, welcome. I can't even pretend to be interesting, although I can claim that I /used/ to be. I hope that's enough! xo
Gotta love the internets, huh? I've definitely seen your name for a few years, and then, someone mentioned you were pregnant (or maybe you said it in a comment), and I started lj stalking, I suppose. I'm fascinated by your journey.
But anyway - zuzu and my wife are sort of the same person, so its funny to see them together. Mel was gracious enough to fly in for our wedding, even! And Eryn was awesome - I interviewed at Smith last year, and she was wonderful about offering us suggestions about what to check out and things to do in the area when Rebecca and I came in for a pre-interview weekend visit.
What's REALLY funny is that yesterday was the first day I realized your name is "laursabeth" instead of "laurasbeth" which I always pronounced as "Laura S. Beth." I am such a weirdo.
I never got a chance to meet Mel. It's very sad. We even both lived in Ohio for a really long time... but now we're so far away from each other. SO SAD! She is an awesome girl.
It's true. We're both fortunately surrounded by some awesome chicks! I love chicks! You are awesome!
