(Backstory: On Friday night, Jen and I are going to a local-ish AA baseball game. The New Britain Rock Cats are playing the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. I have been calling this the CAT SHOWDOOOOWN! ever since discovering this fact. Of course the cats are involved in the fun.)

Jen: I printed out the tickets for Friday night for the baseball game.

Me: You mean the CAT SHOWDOWN! Did you print out tickets for the cats?

Jen: The cats don't get tickets.

Me: Oh right. We're bringing them in slings.

Jen: ...

Me: I wonder what a Rock Cat is. Or a Fisher Cat. I wonder how they play baseball.

Jen: Maybe they are just guys in uniforms playing baseball.

Me: YOU TAKE ALL OF THE FUN OUT OF EVERYTHING!

You're going? So jealous, especially because I feel I inspired the uh, cat fest.

A fisher cat is an evil badger/beaver type large rodent with big teeth that is a relative of the weasel.

They have been known to eat domestic pets, as well as be able to take on a human child. Beware.

Jen clearly does not understand the true joy of life - the speculation game. I make it a daily habit.

Oh good. I am glad it isn't just me. I think it makes life much more interesting.

That is a conversation Ralph and I could have, and we had a similar one about seeing Cats (the musical). Just put my name where yours is and his where Jen's is. :-D

Now that you mention it, I tried to ALSO bring up "Cats," and Jen insisted they were not REAL cats. WTF?

Actually I said they were real cats so nyah! In fact I said they were cats dressed up as people dressed up as cats to portray cat lifestyle to people....:)

I believe that Fishers are found all over North America/Canada and even in Alaska. They are nasty nasty beasts. I could be wrong though:0

Summertime baseballs games --- the only ones I ever went to were the Chicago Cubs ... uh at the Wrigley Stadium. They were awesome afternoons filled with lots of beer and hotdogs.

I would LOVE to go to a bunch of Major League games but those are sadly not in the budget right now, and require more traveling than Jen feels comfortable doing right now. She is afraid we will have a baby at the ballpark! (That sounds kind of fun to me.)

Is the game in NB or N'ampshuh? If it's in NB, you'll be in my old stompin' grounds. Well, sorta. Got to go about 10 miles west, through Bristol, to get there.

that's awesome.

The Rock Cats are from New Britain, CT--right near where I grew up. I don't know if they are anymore, but they used to be a AA team for the Sox.

I don't know if they are affiliated with the Sox, but they are definitely AA. I didn't see anything on their website, but I didn't look very thoroughly.

It should be fun!
