You know, aside from waking up every 2 hours or so, I've been a pretty good sleeper lately. I am the master of staggering down the hall to the bathroom in the dark and hardly opening my eyes so I can drift back to sleep as soon as I'm done. It's broken sleep but still seems to be restorative.

Except today. Today I woke up at 4:30am and was UP.

I tried, I really did. I got back into bed, got myself all cozy. Shut off the fan in case I was chilly. Rolled to one side and curled in. Rolled to the other side and curled in. Tried to think nice, sleepy thoughts.

At 5:30, I got really frustrated with not being able to fall asleep and walked around to Jen's side of the bed thinking that maybe if I got under her blanket with her and curled up that way, I would get some sleep. Instead, I tried to get comfortable and sleepy until a few minutes after 6, when I gave up and got out of bed.

Ugh, I feel so hungover today. And I feel bad about waking Jen up at 5:30.

Sure, but then it won't be a question of not being ABLE to fall asleep. I mean, CLEARLY I was tired. There was no reason for me not to be asleep.

Next month there will be a REASON. :)

I was up from about 4-5:30 this morning, too! For no reason. It was trying really hard to turn into a panic attack, but it never did. I finally fell back asleep around 5:30 and then hit snooze until almost 7:00 in the morning. Whoops.

I got out of bed and put on ridiculous television on MTV. And laid on the couch while not really paying attention to it.

Eventually I dragged myself up like it was a regular day, made breakfast, vacuumed the bedrooms, etc. I feel pretty human right now but I don't know how long it will last.

I hope you make it through your day! I don't know why the kid is so active this morning - she woke up at 4:30 and has pretty much been going ever since. I guess she feels guilty about scaring me yesterday by not moving much.

Yeah, I'm a morning person, but 4am isn't morning. No way!

I really believe the sleeplessness of the 9th month of pregnancy prepares us for the hell of no sleep when baby comes.

You'd think the body would evolutionarily want you to be RESTED for the birth of the baby. Augh!

Eeeek the technology. I'm leaving a comment in /this/journal -commenting on your /other/ journal. Eeek. Anyway, just another random reassurance from a total stranger, but I always measured small, and I didn't waddle AND my belly button never even tried to stick out or anything. My son was born either one week after his due date or on his due date depending on which ultrasound picture you went with -8 pounds exactly. He was marvelously healthy and freakishly alert and pink and all that stuff. And, July 3 is my birthday, and I think it's a nice time to be born around then. For many years I thought the fireworks were just for me. :) (Except that my birthday is also Tom Cruise's birthday, and that makes me say ewwwwhhh.)

Oh yeah, I forgot that Tom Cruise's birthday is on the 3rd. Yuck. But it's a good day because it's YOUR birthday. It's a good day to have a baby!

Thanks for sharing your story, I am hoping mostly for the healthy baby at the end but I'd like it to happen soon! :)

You guys have separate blankets? From what I can gather from the other comments - is the baby waking you up?

We don't usually have separate blankets... but for whatever reason Jen dragged this blanket out of the closet and had been using it for a couple of days. I think it's because she would kick the blankets off in the middle of the night and then blame me and say I took them. Which I didn't.

The baby doesn't wake me up, per se, but I do wake up because I have to go to the bathroom, or because my side hurts, or something.
