Hot today. REALLY hot today. It's 7:30pm and it's currently about 93°. That's not typical up in these parts. Good thing Jen installed the window A/C in the bedroom on Sunday. In an hour I'll crank it up so it will be good for comfy sleeping.

We're pretty lucky with our house, though, in terms of staying cool. High of 97° today, still 93°, and it's somewhere around 80° in here with no A/C. Not too bad.

I went swimming with Morgan over at his apartment complex pool today, which was a very welcome break from the heat. The pool was a bit chilly but it sure helped when we got out and could actually sit outside for a while. Tons of people from the apartment complex were there, including several young girls, one of whom was pregnant and had a cute, big belly with NO stretch marks! (WTF?). I try not to be a majorly judgmental about what people do, but when she started smoking I got really irritated. Grrrr.

But the swimming was awesome!

When I worked at a gas station, I REALLY wished I could refuse to sell cigarettes to pregnant women. Seriously, if a pharmacist can refuse to fill birth control because of their personal beliefs and values, shouldn't I be able to refuse to sell them cigs? Anyway, I'm with you on that. "It pisses me off" in my very best Cartman voice.

Yeah, I would have a really hard time with that, too. I don't know what I would do.

I am going to a 4th of July picnic this weekend and sort of hoping they don't ask me to bring wine coolers or beer. I don't mind bringing those things, even though I won't be drinking them, but I have visions of myself feeling the need to explain to the clerk as I pay for them, "I promise, this isn't for me!" Then s/he'll probably stare at me like I'm nuts because I'm hardly showing.

If my grandmother was still alive, I'd probably find myself buying cigarettes while pregnant too and explaining that they were for my grandmother. I didn't approve of my GM smoking, but how do you tell a woman who has smoked since she was 18 that she should quit at 85?

And I am *so* judgmental sometimes of pg women. I was judgmental of a pg woman eating soft cheeses at a wedding this past weekend... or maybe just jealous that she was eating them and I wasn't. (It was an all-vegetarian wedding, and they had chosen lots of foods made with classy soft cheeses.)

Ha ha ha, I could totally see you saying, "Don't worry! It's not for me!" I think I would be tempted to do the same thing. Although you could send L in for the wine coolers or whatever. That's what partners are for! ;)

And it's true that people in their 80s get away with murder. I know that I would let my grandparents do/say pretty much whatever they wanted. When you were born in the 19-teens, you get a little slack.

Now see, I have partaken of some soft cheeses during my pregnancy. Most soft cheeses bought/sold in the US are pasteurized anyway, so it's a non-issue. But maybe not the fancy schmancy ones. (I never did give up blue cheese.) I actually had a sandwich made with deli meat the other day (entirely by accident - I thought it was a COOKED chicken breast sandwich when I ordered it), and I practically gave myself a meltdown, though.

Hang in there, you can do it!
