Hot today. REALLY hot today. It's 7:30pm and it's currently about 93°. That's not typical up in these parts. Good thing Jen installed the window A/C in the bedroom on Sunday. In an hour I'll crank it up so it will be good for comfy sleeping.

We're pretty lucky with our house, though, in terms of staying cool. High of 97° today, still 93°, and it's somewhere around 80° in here with no A/C. Not too bad.

I went swimming with Morgan over at his apartment complex pool today, which was a very welcome break from the heat. The pool was a bit chilly but it sure helped when we got out and could actually sit outside for a while. Tons of people from the apartment complex were there, including several young girls, one of whom was pregnant and had a cute, big belly with NO stretch marks! (WTF?). I try not to be a majorly judgmental about what people do, but when she started smoking I got really irritated. Grrrr.

But the swimming was awesome!

You know, I bet that's it. You are TOO HOT TO HANDLE!

When we had a two-floor place in Cbus, the thermostat was on the lower floor and we did set it much cooler than I would usually, because otherwise the upstairs was just too hot. So I feel you.

I like it cold when I sleep, but not during the day.

HA HA HA HA, whoops.

I had that happen to me in reverse in this crappy, drafty apartment I was living in (with 4 other people) in Boston as a poor grad student. I was in the front foyer-type room (I guess when you try to cram so many kids into an apartment you get creative) with a wall of windows, and they were REALLY drafty. But the thermostat for the whole apartment was in my room! So I would set the thermostat in my room to 70°, and the heat would run and run and run. All of my roommates were in their rooms sleeping naked with no blankets (and sweating), and I was in my bed - in a down-filled camping sleeping bag in my bed! - wearing a sweatsuit, socks, gloves, and a winter hat.

I can attest to that! (Being a roommate in that oh-so-crappy house!) I was the sweaty one in the back room, but after you moved out I moved to the front room and realized how *truly* drafty it really was. I made curtains from fleece blankets, and, yes, turned the heat up, too. :) -Jill
