Busy Weekend

We jam-packed as much into this weekend as we possibly could, considering we both seem to have come down with some sort of crud and the baby has picked up one of the side effects of switching to Prilosec, which is diarrhea and abdominal cramps. Poor kid has been /miserable/ for the latter half of the week, straining so hard that she's given herself Abs of Steel. But we're determined to make her a "portable kid," and the weather has been pretty good, so...

Saturday we celebrated Gus's 2 month birthday by taking a little road trip to the outlet malls and dropping a mint on their sidewalk sales. We manage to curb spending by only buying things for the punk, heh. But still, umm, she got some, umm, stuff. It was a nice day to walk around the outlet malls, and the ride to Lee is always really pretty. Lots of people brought their DOGS to the outlet mall. WTF is up with that?

Yesterday we decided to brave the Tri-County Fair. We wouldn't have gone if we'd known that admission was $10 each, but hey, live and learn. By the time we off-road parked in some dude's backyard and walked through the gate, we realized that there really wasn't anything to do with the baby at the fair besides walk around a little bit. And eat fried dough. Mmm. Still, we got to see some pig races (yay!) and eat some fair food and a large number of people stopped to tell us how beautiful the baby is. That's weird! The baby makes us popular. Jen carried the punk in the knock-off Bjorn thinger and it was nice to see, and the punk seemed to like it. Then we went to Friendly's to eat ice cream sundaes and vowed to be better eaters the next day. Heh.

Today after lounging around the house for a long while, we went to Childs Park in Northampton, spread out a blanket, and hung out for a couple of hours. We took some photos of the punk and just chilled in the nice weather. It's good to finally just pack up and get out sometimes, and I'm not going to lie - it's nice having Jen home for an extra day to share Baby Duty.

I am so not ready for summer to end. For realz.

I LOVE county fairs. Next year, the husband and I vowed to take Nicholas to the Monmouth County Fair that happens near us every summer-- we've never been home for it.

When I was a kid, my family and I used to go the Martha's Vineyard County Fair every summer and it rocked. I vividly remember scarfing fried dough, going on some hideous ride that was a giant roulette wheel dipping in the air in big circles, and then yakking up said fried dough behind said ride.

We went to the Big E a couple of times and I had a lot of fun, but it was a little far from my hometown so we didn't always go. Now we're so close to it, I'm sure we will go many years! I love fairs, especially big ones! :)

10 bucks for the fair? Man. I went to the State fair this summer and paid 8 bucks so I guess that isn't that different. Sadly, there is as much stuff to do at the fair with a baby as when you are just pregnant. Sweat, eat fried food and look for places to sit down. Though I do enjoy looking at the kid's crafts and the place where people try to sell you the latest and greatest!

It wasn't even a big fair. Sigh. The HUGE fair here costs a bazillion dollars and parking is a bazillion dollars too (so that's TWO bazillion dollars!) so we definitely won't be going this year.

At least when you're pregnant you don't have to be on the lookout for a baby meltdown!

Poor Gus. Sorry to hear about the prilosec s/e. Ask your ped about prevacid. Emma has done great on it.
Happy 2 months old to Gus. We went outlet shopping this weekend. Me in the Baby Gap section = dangerous.
Oh, and we got the coupons today. SCORE!!! I can pay off some of my shopping now. :) Thank you!

You're welcome. We're dangerous in Baby Gap, too. She just looks so dang cute in their stuff. Old Navy is dangerous also.

We switched to Prevacid (did I ever blog about that?). She likes the strawberry flavor of the suspension so it is much easier going down (though I am sure it is full of sugar) and is helping with the reflux without causing diarrhea. I just wish it wasn't $45 for our copay! (It's Tier 3 on our HMO.)
