(Thanks for the spelling tips, guys!)

My pediatrician's office is now faxing information about my kid to the head of pediatric dermatology at UMass Medical in Worcester to try to "squeeze her in," because their next open appointment is at the end of November.

Ugh. Double ugh.

Yesterday on the phone, the pediatrician kept telling me how she wasn't concerned, and I shouldn't be concerned. Me: Uhh, you're not concerned but you want to try to rush-appointment her to Worcester? There was a lot of back pedaling and stammering about how "just because something is rare doesn't mean it is serious."

My mom has called three times because she is worried that the baby has a blood disorder or leukemia.

Little punk is taking her morning nap like a good girl. Then she is going to go out to mama and baby group in her cute little shirt with bugs all over it. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...

To be honest, this can be true.

A couple years ago, I got this bizarro rash thing caused by a virus. It causes giant red blotches all over your body from the neck down, mostly on one half of your body, for a couple weeks. They're not itchy, but they just look awful. I'd never heard of it before (and still don't remember the name). It ran its course and that was that. But holy crap, before I knew what it was, I was a total basket case!

if the doctor's reaction is bugging you, call the pediatrician and be like "i got the sense you were holding back when we spoke yesterday. you want to make a rush appointment for A, but you say it's not serious. can you tell me what you think is going on?"

i think that if the doctor suspected leukemia or some kind of blood disorder, she/he would have ordered labs.

i'm sorry that all of this is going on. it just plain sucks.

I'm thinking good thoughts for you and your wee one, sunshine. If you need a distraction, a friend sent me a link to a great baby clothes website: Obey the Baby.

That's right, just think positively!

You're doing a fine job with her!

The fact that your doctor is rushing to get you an appointment doesn't necessarily mean she thinks something is wrong-- my ob/gyn told us about Nicholas's enlarged brain ventricles on our ultrasound and then made us see a perinatologist the next freakin' day....and nothing was wrong! Keep the faith, sister-- I'm thinking of you.

Oh and regarding the spit-up...this might ease the spit up a little, although clearly it won't address the reflux...but Dr. Brown's bottles are pretty freakin' good at reducing the air that gets into baby's stomachs.

We can send you a few of Quinn's bottles if you would like to try the Dr. Brown's. They were good with the belly bubbles, but Quinn still yarfed half her food until she was 6 months old or so. It *was* hard to take her in public. I remember that. I also remember that it just magically stopped one day.

I wish we were closer and could give you a break or something.

Sending MUCH MUCH love.

Haven't checked in in a long time, but let me tell you that you're doing GREAT in the midst of a difficult series of challenges.

If this is any comfort, I work for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and your story doesn't sound similar to stories that parents tell about what it was like before their kiddo was diagnosed with a blood cancer.

That said, I have FREAKED OUT in the past when kiddo's ped orders any type of blood work at all. I just have to remind myself that good doctors test for a wide variety of things... they're just being thorough.

I'll end with a compliment. While things are clearly tough, you don't give one indication that you resent your kiddo for any of it. Now if you could just stop blaming yourself... because you're doing a great job.

HUGS! Hang in there girl.CJ used to throw up all the time too. It gets better. Wish I had a magic cure for you. As for the petechiae, it's usually caused by a strain. Most of the time it happens on the face but it can occur else where. They're kind of link hickies. Mostly harmless. I hope you find answers soon. You are a great mom and try not to stress so much. Kids bounce. Adults crash. This is why we teethe as kids, adults couldn't handle it.

I'm keeping you guys in my thoughts.

(on a side note, i have not yet mailed the aforementioned package and was wondering if maybe i should just bring it to Boston w/ me next week?)

I don't know if we can realistically drive out to Boston next week. The baby now has two chiropractor appointments, a mom and baby group, and who knows when I am getting in to this specialist in Worcester... so a four hour round trip is probably a little much for me right now.

I wish you were coming out here instead! I feel like a pooper not being able to drive to Boston, but she spits up a lot in the car and stuff and well, four hours in the car makes me nervous.

Care for a side trip?

That's cool -- I honestly had no idea how long it would take you. I've never been to MA before and I totally understand that things are hectic right now.

Maybe I can arrange something on Sunday? If not, I'll just mail the stuff to you. :)

I know she did all he soy and rice and normal baby formulas.. She did find some sort of milk that did work out for her kid.. Maybe she can help you out too..
