Punk was pretty much crying non-stop all morning, with a brief break for a swing nap (she wouldn't nap any other way and finally just collapsed) and another brief break for some pictures of her in her first snow storm. (Awwh.) Usually she's a screamer but this was actual crying - no tears but that crying sound. (Breaks your heart.)

After several hours of this and trying to distract her a million times, I slipped her some Tylenol. I don't see any teeth in there and she didn't have a fever, but I couldn't think of anything else to do and she NEVER cries like that.

It might be coincidence, but she has been sleeping now since about 11:40am. (It's now 1:10pm.) Poor little peanut.

I wonder what is up with her? And I feel weird about slipping her Tylenol, even though I know Tylenol doesn't really hurt anyone.

Poor little girl, all miserable and with no vocabulary to communicate her needs and owies clearly!

:(

Poor mamas, too, without a decoder ring to help figure it out.

I know! She was so, so sad! We were going to go to the baby-friendly movie today but she is still sleeping and I don't want to wake her. No movie for me. :(

I wish I knew what was wrong.

dude, i'm ALL about the tylenol. and when they're old enough, the motrin. :D

teeth don't always show when they're bothering them. they have to travel, man! it takes tiiiiiime. so yeah, it could be teeth.

i wish greta was sleeping. she's been in bed for an hour and a half now and is not napping. crazy girl, go to sleep.

You could slip Greta some Benadryl... ;)
Kidding, of course.

Punk's supposed to get a shot tomorrow (*sad*) but I don't know if I will postpone it if she's still feeling crabby.

I just wish I knew if it was teeth or some other random pain like a headache or something. I'm just paranoid.

you underestimate me. i might slip her benedryl... if it worked that way for her. unfortunately (or fortunately... depending on how you look at it), it doesn't make either of my kids sleepy. it just does the job it was created for: helps with allergic reactions! imagine that!

this is the thing with babies: they keep you guessing! all part of the fun. "fun." :D

Don't feel weird about it - you don't have to see teeth for her to be teething. She could also be just randomly sore and cranky. And if she's just not able to get to sleep - which she clearly needs - and the Tylenol can help with that, then that's helpful.

Feel weird about it when you start pouring her shots of brandy.

Just remember, your grandparents were likely given rags with a few drops of whiskey when they were teething and they turned out fine.

Well, I'm assuming they did, I don't know your grandparents, but you get my drift.

If you had a headache, or were achey or had teeth pain, wouldn't you take Tylenol?

Don't sweat it. It works. It's harmless.

As many others have already said, you don't need to see or feel teeth for her to be starting teething, and she is just about the right age to be starting.

Sounds, too, like she really needed the snooze.

Don't feel weird. I had the same reaction the first time I gave in to Tylenol. As long as you're not making a habit of it every little time she cries, it's no big deal.

Her teeth could be bothering her well before they show.

Don't you hate that? When they are so little and you don't know what is wrong? It's so frustrating. Maybe she is coming down with something. I hope she feels better soon. Hopefully the long nap will help the poor girl!

Poor bebbay. =( Have you read what Dr. Sears says about "high-needs" babies? I have one too, and seriously, the doc makes me feel blessed to have one. =D
