Ugh.
Punk would NOT sleep last night.
No, scratch that, she slept FANTASTICALLY in the early part of the night, drifting seamlessly into sleep at 6:30pm and sleeping like a rock with no necessary resettlings, and then woke up at 11:15 to eat. I fed her, she had a bit of a rough time getting settled back down but was back in bed a few minutes before midnight and I thought all was well. Lately she's needed some resettling around 3 or 4am, so I figured Jen could cover that and I went to bed.
Punk woke up randomly at 12:30am and was Up. Like "ready to play" up. She was talking, moving everywhere (in her swaddle), etc. I had her in the rocker forEVER until she fell asleep, put her in the crib - she woke up. Picked her back up, back in the rocker for longer, put her back in - she woke up. Ad nauseum.
After an hour, I told Jen she had to try because I hadn't gotten to sleep yet and it was 1:30am. So she went but Punk has sort of decided I am her Best Sleep Friend right now and she just kept whining and straining and crying, so I went back out there. She fell asleep in my arms in the rocker. It was a repeat of the previous hour: put her in the crib - wake up. I tried to leave and she just started flailing all over the place, so I picked her up again. I tried to bring her into bed with me, but she just turned that into Party Time.
By now it is somewhere near 2:30 and I am ready to shoot myself. I recruit Jen to try again and I shut off the monitor and have her shut the door. I put the pillow and blanket over my head. But I can still hear the screaming. The screaming. The screaming. I go back and get her again, she sleeps in my arms some more, and finally I tell Jen to get her 2oz of milk. (No, she wasn't hungry, but umm, whatever.)
She fell asleep at 3:30 and Jen came back to bed and promptly fell asleep. I think I fell asleep around 4.
Punk woke up at 5, whining. I went in, rocked, got her back into the crib around 5:40. She woke up at 6:15 when Jen's alarm went off.
She has been a miserable, overtired mess ever since.
ME TOO.

Date: 2008-01-09 05:25 pm (UTC)My daughter is turning 6months on the 21st, and she had a terrible nap day yesterday. SO out of whack that I had to cancel a doctor's appt. that I had scheduled for myself... Her night time sleep wasn't that bad, she woke up twice to eat - but she was loud and talkative throughout the entire night, and I sleep on a futon in her room, so she totally kept me up all night. My neck is all stiff from stress. I do think she's teething though - is it possible your little Punk is teething too? either that, or there is definitely something going on with the baby cosmos! lol
oh crap - I think I just jynx'd myself - daughter went down for a nap 20 minutes ago, and she's already waking up?! Gah!
*sigh*
*drags feet to nursery*

Date: 2008-01-09 08:41 pm (UTC)It's possible that she's teething (she's been a drool machine for over a month now) but she wasn't UPSET throughout the night last night, she would just wake up when I put her down. She didn't seem to be in pain or sad or anything. Weird.
Good luck tonight!

Date: 2008-01-09 09:04 pm (UTC)She had a decent morning nap today - then I had the bright idea of taking her to the bookstore - big mistake - she hates bookstores... maybe too much visual stimuli? I dunno - but I had her in my baby bjorn and she started to squeal in the aisles - so I had to grab some random things I wanted and skeet skeet out of there. lol. I guess her teething makes her crabby anywhere she goes...
I've been doing some searches online about baby sleep - and I see a lot of babies around 6 months having some similar wide awake at night situations - interesting... must research more... Hope you and yours have a restful sleep tonight! (and baby Punk too! - sleep baby, sleep!) :)

Date: 2008-01-10 01:49 am (UTC)She has been sleeping like a log for the last 2 hours... I am so nervous because last night started so well, too.
I have also heard that kids can get sleep problems at 6 months. I wonder if it's a developmental thing or if they're just more aware or something...
