Between Jon the Caterer Landlord, The Movie Thief, and me, we passed out (NO LIE) 50 bags of candy tonight. We finally had to shut the lights. There must have been 400-500 trick-or-treaters. Woah, I'm tired.

It was nice to sit outside with Jon, The Movie Thief, and Neighbor Paul to chat about costumes and such. Everyone seems happy that we are buying a house, which is nice. And Jon the Caterer Landlord gave me some of his homemade cream of mushroom soup, which was yom yom.

I only ate three pieces of candy. I am so proud of myself. I am such a good doo-bee. I didn't have much of an appetite tonight, though.

Gosh, I'm wiped. All of that trick-or-treating is hard work!

Thank you for all of the posts and comments and phone calls and texts and e-mails. You are all a wonderful bunch of folks, even those of you who don't know this journal exists, like most of my coworkers.

My coworkers frequently e-mail each other en masse about things like Book Club and getting together. You know, like we don't spend enough time together. Anyway, Coworkr Funk sent an e-mail around about reviving getting together after Wednesday Staff Meeting and also mentioning dbar, a gay bar down the street from me that apparently has food as was mentioned on The Phantom Gourmet. (?) She said that we should plan an outing before I leave. And Coworker Anne e-mailed back, "No more talking about Jude leaving!" Awwwwwh.

Birthday was a good time. "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" was really cute! I wouldn't call it a musical masterpiece but it was a good time. It was nice to see some smoochie!

My former OSU Big Gay Boss has just sort of casually offered me a 3/4-time temporary job with hir if no internal candidates take it. Interesting, at least for the offering.

Big car!

We went to pick up the car tonight. It's an awfully smooth ride compared to the Focus. When I crossed over to Blue Hill Ave from 138 and got into Mattapan, it hit me how BIG this car is. Considering I went from a Sentra to a Focus to this, it seems HUGE in 'hood traffic. I guess I'll have to get used to it. (Parking, too.) It's so discombobulating to not intrinsically know the dimensions of the car. As someone who spends a LOT of time in the car and needs to squeeze in all over the place, yeah, that's concerning.

But it cruised over the crappy Codman Square roads like nothing. And when we get out to the sticks? Yeah!

Also, in the 2 minutes between when I parked the car on the street, emptied out the glove compartment, and stepped out of the car, a bird pooped on it. A BIRD POOPED ON MY NEW CAR IN 2 MINUTES!! THERE IS POOP ON MY NEW CAR! POOP!

In other news, the biggest slug in the whole universe was sliding across our front walk when I got home. It was easily 4 inches long. Ewwwww.

I'm so excited that tomorrow is Friday. I'm done by 1:30 and it's a 3-day weekend. YAY!

Someone outside is singing "Happy Birthday." Maybe even on the porch downstairs. It's just weird to hear grown men singing "Happy Birthday" because I almost always hear it being sung by toddlers. It's a whole different song!

I think I'll go eat some more slush puppie. Mmmm.

Also, I can't get Weird Al's "White and Nerdy" song out of my head. It is so frickin' funny! I love it! (Go YouTube it right now.)

Aaah, House. How I've missed you.

Someone in the neighborhood, probably Drunk Dude, is blasting the radio really loudly and it is pouring through my windows. For the last hour or so, I've wanted to yell, "SHUT UP!" out the window. But now "Don't Fear the Reaper" is on and I just want to bust out with, "MORE COWBELL!!!"

The Movie Thief and his roommate, The Square Dancer, had a barbecue in the backyard this evening and we decided to crash it! It was awesome - hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, ribs, grilled vegetables, roasted corn, potato salad, deviled eggs (yuck, but some people like them), salad, and cake and ice cream. We busted into their crazy party and commenced with the YOM YOM.

The demographic was largely 40-50 year old gay men, but there were a few exceptions. Also, most of them were square dancers from some sort of expo that The Square Dancer (the dude downstairs who is my age but is dating Santa Claus. The REAL Santa Claus. Besides, most of those old men from the geighborhood are quite nice.

We looked at an apartment in Winthrop but whenever we go looking at apartments, something happens that makes me want to stay here until we buy something in Western Mass. Aaah, dilemma.
