Off-schedule
Jul. 25th, 2006 07:35 amThe word for yesterday was chaos. Well, not true chaos, as nothing was really unmanageable, so I suppose more like off-schedule or dyssynchronous.
It started when Jen didn't wake up in time to take the car for a damage estimate like she'd said and I had five minutes before work, so I illegally parked in front of the place and jumped out of the car, saying, "Just give me a quick estimate, please. Five minutes, nothing on paper." He gave me a casual quote and I ran to work.
I had a cancellation later in the afternoon due to a road being closed, and I set about trying to fill it, only the person I wanted to fill it with was all, "Yeah, you can come today but not at that time, can you come earlier?" So I ended up moving everyone around in the afternoon so I could get them in. It wasn't a big deal but it's unusual for me to have a day that looks nothing like my planner.
Then
thespian requested my help in picking up a drafting table from a dude in Dooster who is moving to Vegas. She took a little nappy and then had some major train delays, so we got a late start. We got the table and I erroneously thought she knew the dude and acted appropriately. Oops! Because we got a late start, I told her we could either go to Home Depot (she wanted paint) or go pick Jen up and get food - she chose Jen, but on the way to Jen we had to pass Home Depot so we ended up going there anyway. Then we gathered Jen and headed up to Stephanie's stopping by Mary Chung's 10 minutes before closing time. Mary seated us happily with no mention of time, but the server was incredibly anxious that we had to order Right! Now! because the kitchen was simply going to implode at 10pm.
I never eat past 8pm. This is so I can take one of my pills on an empty stomach and don't like to stay up so late. This fact caused Stephanie to call me "old" all night. Eh, I own my age - but it's really the babymaking that's made everything so scheduled... when to get up to temp, when to pee, when to take this pill or that pill or that shot, when to eat, what to eat, etc. etc. But I ate at 10pm and didn't die... AND I took my pill on a full stomach. I'm such a rebel!
So we got to see her new place, which is quite full of character and hence, awesome. They are all just moving in so it was kind of dissheveled but I can't wait to see it when it is settled. There are parts of it that I love and parts of it that I would love to do something with. It's in a great location - I wish we could live in a great location - that we could never, ever afford without 20 roommates. Such is life.
I'm tired this morning, and I woke up late and missed my temp window. But life goes on, and last night was fun.
