Punk is getting very big all of a sudden. It's like she was a baby for a long time and then something snapped and now she is gearing up to be a toddler. It's freaking me out!

As for her first day at child care:

She didn't nap. She also didn't eat much (had 6oz of milk instead of 8, had 1/2 a jar of food instead of a whole jar). And she fell somewhere, somehow and got a good bump under her left eye. I am trying not to make a big deal about that, after all, kids fall - especially kids who are suddenly obsessed with pulling up and are not terribly coordinated. She was happy when I left, and happy when I got back, although you could tell that she was so far past overtired that she had lost all control of herself and had zero ability to calm her body down. (I'm guessing this is how she fell.) When I picked her up, she went wild climbing me and tried to bite my shoulder (which is what she does when she is overdone and doesn't know how to calm down).

She crashed out immediately in the car and woke up about 25 minutes later. I got her into the house and she was still so exhausted, yet it took me an HOUR to calm her down and settle her for a nap. Ugh. And then she only took an hour nap. Double ugh. And she was STARVING by dinner time.

Hopefully she will be able to sleep at M's house SOON, because spending an hour with her screaming from exhaustion yet unable to get into sleep was really taxing.

I am glad her day went at least fairly well. At least she didn't scream when you left and she wasn't screaming when you got there.

C doesn't sleep well at daycare. She never has. Thankfully we're usually able to pick her up early enough that we've made a routine out of her taking a nap when we get home.

Yeah, Punk has never been able to sleep in a strange place so I imagine it will take a while for her to take a good nap there. Who knows, maybe this will help her sleep through the night. (Well, a mama can dream...)

wow she is getting so big! That's just not fair!

Like others have said, it's a huge adjustment and for awhile things will be up and down and topsy turvy. She can't verbally express herself so things will come out in changes of eating and sleeping and behavior. Hopefully it will all even out pretty fast.

Hugs to you, I know it's not easy. My boys had a super hard time with daycare - but Hannah, she took to it like it was no big deal and i had to BRIBE her to get her out of there most days. :)

I think she will do well but I would still rather have her with me all the time! :)

Hey! You have your own!

Maybe we should swap for a day. Your kids are super cute.

Maybe cute, but mine are loud and argue and backtalk. But they do pee in a toilet and feed themselves and rub shoulders on demand.

Ok, maybe just a day at a time.

It's a -huge- adjustment. When I worked in daycare, I saw all kinds of different kids adjust to care. Some cried all day for two weeks straight, some had lots of fun (like Punk), and some struggled. I am sure she will do fine. You are starting her part time and that will help immensley :) As for the bump....it'll happen. Even if the lady is right there. If i had a dollar for every time I sent Drewbie home with an injury.......let's just say I wouldn't have to run a home daycare anymore. :) love nad smoochies to Punk and congrats to you both on a first day!!!

Yeah, but it doesn't bother me if DREW gets a bump! Ha ha, that was mean. Sorry. :)

I think it will all turn out fine in the end, but in some ways I can't wait for her to go to full days so that when she doesn't sleep all morning, it's still M's problem in the afternoon. ;)

Awww ... she does look so big all the sudden. I love those little shorts she's wearing. I'm glad her first day went well considering the wind down that you had to endure.

I got those shorts at a thrift store. They are HUGE! So funny.

That wasn't too bad eating wise, I mean it was only a little less for her first big day out. It seems like she did pretty well! Hopefully she'll get used to it right away.

She IS getting big. It blows my mind to think that Gus was 5 months when Morella was born..I mean I thought she was super old at the time and now I think "wait, this is nothing -- they are still little babies!"

Heh, Morella is getting old! It's funny, someday not too long from now 5 months will seem like nothing but right now it is a huge difference!

oh, I don't care if he gets a bump, and luckily K doesn't either :) How about J had a HUGE bruise on his face for Christmas b/c my MOTHER set him down and he fell into the chair? oy.

She is HUGE. Ginourmous.

So huge! Too big!

I don't care too much about bumps but on the first day? Sheesh!

J. also didn't eat much his first couple days of daycare. Nor did he sleep much. He has started to do eat tons and nap better (though then we had a week vacation, so today he is getting used to it all over again, oh well).

He has yet to get hurt -- but since he learned to roll over, YESTERDAY, that's a-coming, I'm sure...

Hugs to enormous Punk.

She took a good nap the other two days, so I am happy with that. Of course, in a bigger place it would be a different story because I doubt they would be able to recreate the Fortress of Solitude for her!

Go, J, go!

For a first day, I think she ate great! There were some days when we'd pick Shaya up from daycare and she hadn't eaten anything! (This was only 1/2 day, as well.) And she was a crappy sleeper, and even she managed to get used to being bundled up and cuddled to sleep by the daycare provider.

Punk will figure it out. And hope that bumps and bruises is the worst she comes home with...S got ringworm from her cohort...fun...

Ewww, ringworm! I sure hope we don't end up with any of that! GROSS!

I'm sure you've commented on this before on some picture or post of ours, but we have the same Ikea shelves! Love them! I showed this pic to Cait and she was so baffled... "that's not our kid!" :)

That 2nd picture, for a second there I thought the squares thing in the background was a pixellated spot in the picture. ha ha ha. She's getting so big. And getting into things just as much as Vivi does. (her fav thing is to pull the dough hook out of the kitchenaid mixer that is on the bottom shelf of the rack and then BANG it on the floor!)

I don't let Punk in the kitchen. When I do, she goes straight for the cats' water dish. Yuck!
