We are supposed to have our new sectional sofa delivered today. And by "today" I mean "probably sometime between 8:30 and 12:30." Are you kidding me? The furniture store is literally down the street from me! Can I maybe get a better time frame? Blah! I sent Punk and Jennifer out to play so that she wasn't in the house all morning begging to watch this show or that show or getting bored watching me sweep and clean.

Jen wants to start reorganizing and cleaning the basement. I think that's a good idea, it's just terribly overwhelming to think about. Not only is all of OUR random crap in there, but a lot of random crap from my father's house is down there, too. We need to get approximately 3 billion storage totes and then maybe some shelving units so it's all stacked up nicey nice. We got a $100 gift card to Lowe's once from my mother for some holiday, and that will come in handy, except that the Lowe's is way out in East Springfield. Whine whine whine.

I finally hung up a piece of artwork that my brother and SIL bought for us in, oh, 2007? I don't know why we never did, it's really nice. Actually, it's not hung at all where I would like it (it would look perfect over the mantle) but the previous owners left a bunch of screws in the wall so I just put it on some. Good enough for now. I really don't know how people (read: Patti, Amy) manage to do all kinds of house projects and yard projects with toddlers/kids around. How is this possible? I can't wrap my mind around it. I know that if I spent an hour cleaning and had Punk in her room, she would have everything out of and off of every surface and it would be all over the floor. :)

I can't even tell you the last time I listened to music in the house. We should bring up the little stereo so we can have music in the house more often.

I feel you! We did our basement massive cleanup and reorganization last summer, because we got mold and then had to put in a new floor. So *everything* got taken out and then we had to go through it blah blah blah. I wasn't working, which is the only way it got done.

Every weekend seems to be a massive cleanup 'round here. I'm scrubbing my bathroom floor with pumice, actually.

I wish every weekend was a massive clean up around here. I would have a cleaner house. But then I would never get to play with my kid or go outside!

I wish you would scrub my bathroom floor. It really needs it. xo

I don't understand how people have clean, decorated, organized, perfectly put together houses either.

I not only have all sorts of my things in the basement, but a LOT of my ex-husband's junk AND a HUGE bunch of stuff he brought home when his grandmother downsided from a big house into assisted care. The vast majority of the basement is stuff I don't want, and the stuff I do want is inaccessible. But the sheer donkey labor to clean it out is paralysing just to think about.

Enjoy your new sofa when it arrives!

I KNOW! It's maddening.

I am a clean freak, positively certifiable. And I can't keep my house clean OR clutter-free (which is really my #1) and it drives me bonkers. Absolutely bonkers! I mean, it's a glorious day and we could spend it a) cleaning or b) outside with the kid. Which is the obvious choice??!?! Also, re: your ex's stuff. BOO. That's what I say. BOO BOO BOO.

The sofa is here. It's bigger than I remember in the store. But it's very cushy!!

I often wonder that about Patti too. She must have superpowers.

I agree.

(I also think her parents take the kids out of the house, which would be nice, too. Can they come take mine?)

Dude, I know what you mean about the whole "how do people clean with a toddler" thing. If I didn't frequently have Mondays off while Duncan is at daycare, I shudder to think what our place would look like - it's bad enough as it is.

I am catching up. Hi! I know what you mean about cleaning with a toddler around - I find it funny too where I find things lately. A bunch of C's random little toys plus a few pens(!) and a bunch of toilet paper pulled from the roll in a reusable shopping bag stuffed in a bathroom cabinet. Hahaha. Wonder how all of that got there...

having parents nearby helps. as does having a house next door where the kids play for hours at a time. also, two is better than one. fisher is good about entertaining tate. if i try to get anything done with just tate around he just follows me around making more messes!

i think i do more home improvement than actual cleaning. heh. :D
