That was fun, let's do it again!
Sep. 8th, 2003 09:44 amI am lucky.
Yesterday, Jennifer got a haircut that is outstanding. For once, she got pretty much exactly what she wanted (which can be hard when you go to a walk-in place and always get a different person) and it just looks amazing. I was unable to stop staring at her yesterday. She is so incredibly hot.
We went shopping for bed linens together. Normally I'm not a big fan of shopping, but this was important. The bed that is now ours was once hers (and before that, it was Patti and Scott's, but that's not important right now), and she had linens that she had picked herself. In order to make the bed more ours, we got new sheets and a new comforter. I think it looks very cool! It is very art-deco, and I'm surprised Jen likes it. I'm always amazed when we agree on something like that, because our style preferences are so dissimilar.
In the afternoon, she got to read some of her new book while I continued to slog through the mire of photos and photo albums. I'm nearly done organizing all that mess - 10 years of pictures in little picture envelopes all over the place! (Ugh.) I read a little, too, my head in her lap and Grendel in mine. And we managed to agree on something very important that I admittedly doubted we would ever agree on - not out of fault, but out of differing tastes.
That evening, we went to Buca di Beppo with Steve, because she was craving Italian food. She even got dressed up for me! When I went upstairs, she was changing out of the shorts and tshirt she'd worn all day and put on really nice pants and a shirt. She looked fantastic and I found myself needing to change clothes in order to keep up with her. Did I mention how incredibly hot she is? Gah!
On the way to Buca, we found an open cell phone lying on the sidewalk. I picked it up and went through the phone numbers until I found one marked 'Home,' and left a message on the home machine. Ten minutes later, I got a call back from the phone's owner, we met in front of Buca, and I gave him his phone. He was very grateful, and I let him know that he'd indirectly encouraged both Jennifer and myself to put 'Home' in our cell phones. We had a good time at dinner even though we got very shoddy service.
After dinner, I'd invited Steve over to watch Gosford Park, but after about an hour, I started to feel very droopy (and it's a /long/ movie), so I bailed on him (sorry, Steve!). I did all of my nighttime rituals (brush teeth, drink water, check email and LJ, etc.) and then curled into my new art-deco bed with my very hot girl.
Yesterday was one of the best days of the year. I'm glad we decided not to go to the Ren Faire, and instead stayed local. I'm bursting with desire to gush about something, but I'm feeling the need to keep it on the DL for a while. *boing*
