It's supposed to be practically the most beautiful day of the year so far and I am currently feeling crappy from a cold. This sucks. I want to go outside and smell the beginnings of spring but my entire head is clogged up. I blame this all on Amy and Elias, and the stuffed "common cold" toy that E gave A for her birthday. I think I'm even skipping the gym today, although I desperately need to go.

Yesterday I decided that I would walk along the beach for 45 minutes after work instead of walking on the treadmill, because it had been so nice out. Unfortunately I didn't get to where I was going until 5:20, so by the time I was 20 minutes out, the sun was really going down and it was so freaking cold along the beach. Yeah. Poor choice. Oh well, it made me walk that much faster!

That concludes today's installment of My Boring Life.

This morning when we were watching a little bit of television before she had to leave for work, Jennifer commented on a commercial by saying, "I want to buy baby clothes." I AM WINNING.

Also, I really /really/ want Jen to get into that UMASS program that she applied for so that we can move to Easthampton, buy a cute and affordable house, and have babies.

Confession: I really really REALLY want my child to be valedictorian of his/her high school class, like I was, like my mother was before me. I want a neat little nerdy legacy. I /know/ it's bad to want those things, and I'm totally scared of being that parent that dumps heaps of pressure on a child, but I /waaaaant/ it! Maybe I'll just have to have [livejournal.com profile] biophile6's baby to ensure that reality.

I am so appalled that Congress will call all kinds of special sessions and be so passionate to get involved in the life and death of one random woman, while they could care less about the lives and deaths of thousands of US children, scores of people in poverty, and entire countries in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Where is the logic here, people??!? The dicksizing that runs rampant through this administration just plain makes me want to throw up. I am so fed up with seeing legislation proposed (and sometimes passed) to make decisions in affairs they have no business being privvy to JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN.

I wonder just one thing: If Terri Schiavo was using Medicaid to pay for her 15+ years of hospital care, would the government be so quick to keep her alive?

(Attention, friends: If you have not done so, MAKE YOUR LIVING WILLS NOW. No, not later. NOW! This could all have been prevented with a little legal blahblah.)
