judecorp: (i am stupid)
So the day started off well because I only had an easy assessment and a home visit scheduled. That's all. Nothing else. The assessment was at 8:00 and the home visit was at 10:30. I was out the door at 12:30 and never looked back. My Jennifer and I headed down to RI to close out an OLD (opened in the 1950s) bank account of my dad's (I was co-holder, apparently) which gave me a little bit of free money. Yay, free money! Then we did a little more work around the house, like take the pictures off the wall and move them somewhere else, and bag more trash. We're also trying to get similar items in the same room to make it easier to sell off later. Progress.

Anyway, we went to dinner with my grandparents and then headed over to my childhood parish's carnival, which was guaranteed to be a cheesy good time. We walked around with my grandparents for a little while and played this quarter gambling game where I think we ended up losing 75 cents total, though we played a lot. GO US! After my grandparents left (and she slipped me $5, woo!), we went to play some other fair games. Jen and I decided to play one of those head-to-head Whack-a-Mole games, and out of the 8 or so people playing, she and I tied for the victory so we both won stuffed animals!

We met up with Laurie and her new girlfriend, Lisa (man, I can't keep them straight!), and continued to play fair games and won two more stuffed animals! We were the carnival champions tonight, it was so awesome. I even won a stuffed animal for THROWING FOOTBALLS, which is comical because I can't throw a football to save my life. We also ate some fair snackies and then went to Applebee's for a cocktail and some more snackies. YOM YOM. Then I drove home, The End.

But aside from getting out of work early, nice weather, free money, and carnival fun, there's more!
1. It was ANTHONY!
2. We gave one of the stuffed animals to my grandmother and she was quite happy.
3. I got more tomatoes from my grandfather's garden.
4. I just got kisses on the mouth from Daedalus.
5. I ran into a girl I knew quite well in high school and she totally didn't recognize me at all!

I really had fun with my grandparents today. They are really rockin' old people!

My weather extension for FireFox has a new picture for today. It's a little thermometer and it's BRIGHT RED with red lines rising off of it.

Dang, I guess it's going to be even hotter than it's ever been, because I've never seen that picture before!

YIKES!

I bought this new deodorant the other day because it was "buy one, get one for 1c" at CVS (Adidas 24-hour sport pure powder scent) and it is STINKY! Ugh, the scent is so strong and I can smell my own armpits and I can't stand perfumes and scents, UGH UGH UGH.

Hopefully I will stay dry in the heat, though!

Quick Quiz: What is your favorite deodorant/scent? Guys, girls, others - I wanna know!

folkyboyTim and I saw March of the Penguins this afternoon, and it was amazing. I had no idea that the life of a penguin was so complex! I mean, sure, I knew it was cold and frozen and all of that, but I have to say the whole experience was really inspiring.

I couldn't help but think about our lives as people in the 21st century, how cluttered it is with machines and gadgets and gizmos and schedules and all of those other things that "savage" beasts don't add into their already chaotic lives. It's funny how all of these things purport to simplify our existence and yet more complexities are added to us. Not to mention how our choices have affected our planet.

The whole experience was simply breathtaking and it just reaffirmed my desire to get into my own space so I can simplify my life and my family's life. I want to clear my space, clean my air, grow some food, give back to the earth... tread more lightly. I don't feel like that is terribly possible here, not right now anyway, so I'm anxious to get to that next step. Perhaps I should watch more nature films.

In other news, going out in the heat (to the movies and then Tim and I walked up Newbury street and hit some used record stores) really wore me out. I was seriously dragging my butt up the stairs. Yar, I'm old. But we got to stop at the Pru and have lunch with my smoochie (Qdoba, mmm), so that was a huge plus!

In other OTHER news, the employee at the Body Shop was totally flirting with me when I was buying shower gel. And I'm starting to get eyed by boys in public. Enter Bizarro World, Population: Me.
