Dreams

I think I'll probably start lj-cutting all of the baby-making stuff because I'm willing to bet there are people who absolutely don't want to see a million posts about charting and cervical fluid or whatever. I'm not great with consistently using filters, and besides, filters make things friends-only and I don't like that. So... skip the cuts if you don't want to see. :)

So I have this charting fantasy... )

Of course, I also have this weird dream where 2006 is going to be this dynamite year of change - new town, new house, new job for Jen, baby on the way. Right now, I can't really bear to imagine that these things might be, you know, difficult or less than smooth.

When my dad died, my brother found some savings bonds that our great-grandmother had bought for us when we were wee babies. I had four bonds - one from my baptism, one from my first Christmas, and two from February 1977. Since I am now the big THREE-OH, these old things are actually starting to fully mature. Whee!

The ones from 11-1975 and 01-1976 are ready to go and will give me about $600 of free money! Sweet! Now I just have to find time to get to a bank. Dude, that buys ~3 vials of ready-to-go sperm!

(The only problem is that my mother, in her infinite wisdom, signed the backs of all of them. With her name when she was married to my father, which is definitely not her name now. Gosh, I hope that doesn't render these invalid.)

New shoes!

Jen and I finally got around to returning the shirt that Mom sent me for Christmas, which was a fairly ghastly sage-colored flannelette button down from Lands End. I was dubious because I had to return it to Sears and I don't usually find things I like at Sears... well, clothing things. A couple of years ago I returned a shirt Mom got me and exchanged it for a crock pot, but I didn't want another kitchen device for Christmas.

We headed to the clearance section of the shoe department and I found these incredibly cute shoes that are usually $45 for $10.49! They are stompy delicious! And then, when I was looking to see if they had different sizes, I found an adorable pair of slip-on Mudd mary janes (brown, slightly stompy) for, no lie, $2.09.

So for one returned shirt, I bought: 2 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of shoelaces for Jen, some little stick-on pads to keep the mary janes from sliding off (I have narrow feet and I always lose slip-on shoes), and 5 adorable pairs of new socks. SCORE!

We went to Old Navy after to see if they had winter coats on clearance for Jen, but they were all gone. So instead, we each got a pair of pants for $7 and I got another really cute pair of cargo pants with embroidery on the leg for $20. (I didn't really want to pay $20 for a pair of pants, but they were just the cutest things and all my pants are too big.)

I'm totally going to wear my froo-froo flowery cargos with my froo-froo mary janes tomorrow. I blame this burst of girly-ness entirely on fertility-enhancing drugs. (However, Jen seems to think I'm TEH HOTTNESS in the low-rise, girly-cut clothing, so it's SO worth it!)
