Last night I took [livejournal.com profile] sacharine on a date to see The Ring. In the spirit of "things have a way of working out," we missed the 9:40 show and had to go at 10:30. There were about 6 other people in the theatre, and one of them was [livejournal.com profile] prettyvacantone.

So I got a hot date /and/ smooches. GO ME!

p.s. I liked The Ring quite a bit, though I definitely enjoyed the snarky commentary we made:
- Moss on your roof is very scary.
- Having a bad hair day is scary.
- Where's the upside down chair? FLIP THE CHAIR!
- That's the scariest mental health record room I've ever seen!

Oh, and you know what? I think it would be really cool if all of you tried to create/illustrate/fabricate an image of me and post it as a comment! :)

What is The Judetrix?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you've got the most overwhelmingly positive attitude of anyone on my friends list, and probably of anyone I know. So right away, you've got that going for you.

You strike me as a very outgoing person, and you have way more fun than any single individual ought to. In terms of the way we socialize, you're my polar opposite, and I'm sometimes tempted to sneak down to Klumbis, steal your skin, and live your life for a week. I wouldn't worry about that happening, though. Your skin is way too small for me.

[Speaking of skin, that picture of your ear creeps me out. Not because you've got all the piercings, I actually like the piercings. It's because the top of your ear looks so red. It might be as simple as poor color balance in the picture, but it makes me want to dunk your head in a tub of hydrogen peroxide.]

You've got interesting insights on gender- and sexual-identity issues, which I find both informative and fascinating. In other words, you get out much.

You're also funny, open and generous. You care about people and I think that's why you've got such an impressive collection of devoted followers (one might even call them a throng). If I were you, I'd seriously consider starting a cult.

The preceding was a paid commercial endorsement for The Jude. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental. No pansexual social workers were harmed.

It /is/ red. That picture was taken the day I got the industrial piercing. I assure you, it doesn't have that hue anymore. :)

Thank you for the lovely compliments, Gallydear. You painted a picture with words that I hope I can live up to. Regardless of whether you want to fit into my skin, you should come to Columbus so we can hang out! :) And I want to get up there sometime soon if I can. I miss you guys!

I agree. I am so incredibly blessed!

Home alone, half naked, drinking rubbing alcohol and rubbing peanut butter all over my computer's motherboard. Such is life.

I didn't find The Ring terribly frightening, but it did have some good suspense. Of course, all of the hype helped, too. Still, I was intrigued by the cleverness of it all. Several times I leaned over and asked Saci, "Who thinks of things like this?"

I liked how the actual "death movie" (or whatever you'd call it) looked like a Salvator Dali film.

The death tape reminded me of Dali's old creepy movies, too. Maybe it was the dead horses. I wasn't all that thrilled by the Ring. It seemed to me that it 'borrowed', or as they say in the music business 'sampled' too many things from too many other horror/suspense movies. There were things I liked about it, but was overall disappointed. Didn't that kid look like a long-lost Culkin to you?

The horses were certainly part of it, but there was also something - was it when the fingernail broke off or something like that? - that vaguely reminded me of one Dali scene where someone's eye gets slit open (ewwww).

I hated that kid. He was like the reincarnation of Ugly Joel Osment. I did, however, like the little girl. I asked Saci, "What do they call that casting call? Attention, parents! SEND YOUR CREEPIEST CHILDREN!" That boy was definitely horror movie material. It's the big teeth.

I certainly didn't think it was the scariest movie of the millennium or anything like that, but I thought it was okay. Certainly heads and shoulders above The Blair Witch Project.

That little girl was totally creepy, even creepier than she was in Donnie Darko, which I didn't think possible.

You know why he reminds you of Haley Puke Osment? Because he sees dead people! And his mom was just a grown up Carol Anne sitting in front of the tv static. It wasn't that I didn't think the movie wasn't creepy or scary, because it was. What I had a problem with was that they stole so much from other movies and tried to act like they didn't. Remember the song Nathan Stith sang? Hallelujah, Bananas! My Bonnie lies over the sea! I really felt like The Ring was the Hallelujah, Bananas of the movie world.

At least the guy was hot. Whoowhoowhoo!

Oh my god, I had forgotten all about "Hallelujah Bananas" and inside, I am laughing my ass off.

Damn it, sometimes I want to time travel back to H-----ofstra!

But yes, the movie was a rip off of lots of things. Sometimes I wonder if there is no original material anymore. Has it all been thought of?
