It was a pretty close race, I have to say. Thanks to everyone who voted! And the winner is...



Extra special thanks to mooglegrl for pointing out the difference between a vertical labret and a plain old center lip piercing. It actually hurt a bit more than I expected it to. Well, that's not entirely accurate. The level of pain was pretty much what I was expecting... but I hadn't taken into account how far down they actually start the piercing (since it's a labret and not a regular lip piercing), and there was a whole lotta flesh to go through. I told Ryan (the piercer, not the boyfriend) that I wasn't expecting it to be so long, and he concurred - it's a thick piercing, and it takes more than the half-second I was initially expecting.

I think it may be slightly off-center on the bottom. He lined it up perfectly with his purple dots, but I think the bottom dot might have been a bit off. It's hard to tell, though - that could be caused by the fact that it's a curved barbell and it's flopping over a little. Either way, I like it.

No smooches for a while though. /That/ will be tough! But Ryan said I could still use my lip stuff. Damn good thing, because they put crack in those little blue tubs and if I can't use it, I'll die.

I actually don't really feel it at all right now, though I know my lip's a little swollen and it feels a little snug. But I'm trying not to touch it too much. He made sure to place it a little further out on the top of the lip so it wouldn't always be rubbing against my top lip. Whee!

In about two weeks, I can get a smaller thingie. Yay!

I am so incredibly addicted to that stuff. True story: When I went home for the holidays, I forgot my lip stuff. I tried to avoid buying another tub for three agonizing days. (I have tubs all over the place because I'm always forgetting where they are.) Finally, on the third day, my brother and his fiancee flew in. I gave them quick hugs and was like, "DEAR GOD - DO ANY OF YOU HAVE LIP STUFF??!??!"

They did. Praise Jesus.

I had a nose ring from 1994 to about 1998. You can see my scar, if you'd like! I don't think I'd ever want another nostril piercing... aside from the fact that I already had one, they're so common, everyone and their mother (literally!) has them.

I'm in a bit of a conundrum about the Richard Shindell show, since it's on the 14th. You see, Flogging Molly and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones is also playing on the 14th, at the Newport.

What is this lip stuff? I was really into some non-petroleum-base stuff I got in a tub at Whole Foods back home, but out here I think the nearest store is... at least an hour away. I'm feeling tempted to wander out sometime during the week if we get a day off and go ogle lip things.

I am addicted to Blistex Lip Medex. It comes in a little blue tub. It contains menthol, which I believe is the crack. It tingles, and fills your senses like Vicks Vapo-Rub. Wahoo!

The only place I've gone to in Columbus is Piercology. I know they're a bit pricier, but I know that they are clean and sterile and all of that, and that's important to me. And they seem to know their stuff.

Nah, it wasn't /too/ painful. I didn't flinch or scream or anything like that. I guess the weird (painful) part was the feeling of tugging... I guess your lip skin is a lot sturdier than I thought, and it seemed like he really had to work it through.

I've never seen a "vertical labret" piercing before and I love it! BTW, it WAS me who you saw running on Friday, but I'm blind and didn't realize it was you until AFTER you were past me. My friend waved to you, so I didn't bother looking in the car until after she waved ... cuz shen THEN said, "I didn't know her.. must be one of your friends". :P
