[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: I am sleeepy. I had a horrid nightmare this morning, woke up screaming.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: in hindsight, the dream wasa awfully funny
[livejournal.com profile] smurfchick: What was it aboot?
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: it started out inocuously...I was consulting with mandy patinkin (in his avatar as a surgeon on Chicago Hope) about what to do about Dr. Romano form ER's severed arm.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfchick: Ha!
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: Next thing I know, I'm walking around woonsocket, and I find myself in the vampire section of town. These vampires also have big cats as accomplices.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfchick: I am giggly. The "vampire section of town."
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: I somehow find my way (with a companion) into a vampire apartment building, but I manage to get out, he doesn't. So of course the vampires are following me.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: Of course they have their own section.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfchick: "vampire apartment building"
[livejournal.com profile] smurfchick: I am in tears.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: hahahaha
[livejournal.com profile] smurfchick: I can't breathe.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: luckily, there are normal people trying to firebomb the vampire buildings, but the fire department is stopping them.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: So I am trying to get a ride home from the firebombers, but they all suspect I'ma vampire, so the only people who offer rides are, of course, vampires.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: I manage to elude most of them, but somehow find myself in (my?) an apartment. I'm safe. But then the doorbell rings, and it's a giant cat!
[livejournal.com profile] smurfchick: This is the best dream ever.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: So I panic and (I guess) run away, the next thing I know I'm walking down Tache street, and I'm home free, but as I walk up the driveway, I see that some vampires (and their cats) are talking to Grandpa and Dad, and that's when I woke up screaming, literally.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: Oh, I forgot part of the doctor part. After consulting with mandy patinkin...
[livejournal.com profile] smurfchick: Oh my god, I'm going to pass out.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: Hey, it's important to convey the feeling of the dream
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: I find myself lecturing Dr. Romano about his horrible people skills, really bawling him out in the lobby of the Palmer House Hilton, in Chicago. It is at this point we confess to each other that we're not nice people because we have small penises.
[livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother: I wish I were making this stuff up.

Looked up your interest

I'm on the waitlist for Hofstra, and I've been on honoroll all year this year.

What are my chances of getting in, do you know?

I'm visiting Wednesday. Do you think I should bring up anything? I really want to go. Is it best I transfer or go if I get off wait list?

Sorry about this, and thanx in advance if you answer.

Wow, brings back memories. :)

I honestly have no idea how many people they pull off their waitlist. That's a good question for the Admissions office, but of course they probably won't tell you.

Are you visiting with your parents/family? They have a program called the "Ambassador Program" where a prospective student can spend a night with a current student, go to classes with that student, etc. If you want to make a second visit, you might want to look into it - it gives a more genuine Hofstra experience.

As far as transferring... if you were a Long Islander, I would have suggested trying Nassau or Suffolk Community Colleges, but in Boston... hrm. It's usually easier to get into a college as a transfer (especially if you do well in college, because they'll look at that transcript more heavily), and you might want to consider taking a lot of your general requirement courses at a less expensive, local school - perhaps UMB or Bunker Hill or something closer to you.

Hope this helps!

Well, I don't want to commute, and I'm not going to a community college, so it's not necessarily a transfer college, and hopefully they'll accept that. I'm going with my friend and her parents, and I'll talk to people at the admissions over there. Hopefully they'll know I'm from Boston and the lengthy drive it will be, and will take me off the wait list, lol. I hope.

It's even funnier to imagine my brother telling this story. I mean, as he was typing, I could hear his tone of voice, his inflections, his manner of speech... and it was /that/ much funnier for it!

But honestly, how can you /not/ giggle at "vampire apartment building," "vampire part of town," and their giant cats? Hee hee hee!
