I just had to go back 120 entries. You kids write too much. But I love ya!

Most of my stuff is unpacked, but the kitchen is a disaster. The cats are all tolerating each other now, which is lovely. But the very best part of all is: I love my apartment. Everything about it, I love. I love the rooms and the wood and the location and the girl that lives with me. Yes. Bliss. :) I am Obnoxious Gushing Girl!

I went to two job interviews today. I don't want to jinx myself, but I think I was pretty much offered a position this morning. I am going to call back tomorrow morning to find out. It's Monday through Friday 9-5, and it's working with young people, and it's "make your own schedule" case management-y stuff, and it has LISW supervision, /and/ it pays $4000 more per year than my current job. And did I mention that the organization had a little calendar up for the kids (with things like "Donut Day" and "Superman's Birthday") and tomorrow they're celebrating "Gay Pride Day"? The HR dude who interviewed me, who filled my head with all kinds of flattering things, said he thinks they might even offer DP benefits!

Oh, and employees get tuition reimbursement and tons of paid training. And they are eligible for up to two weeks of paid "Peace Leave" which basically means you can miss up to two weeks of work, PAID, for going somewhere and doing peace work. (!!)

And there's the usual medical, dental, 401(k), life insurance, vacation, etc. etc. And the HR dude basically said I could start whenever I wanted to, if I needed time to relax after this job, or to unpack my apartment, or whatever. He said someone is starting July 31st, and that is fine. So I could collect unemployment /and/ know that I had an awesome job. Like I said, I need to call tomorrow and tell him I want it. I hope he didn't give the faboo job away!

Well slap me with a two by four and call me ducky, I don't think it gets any better than this.

Do you need me to beat some people up?

I'd suggest Bob Taft, but he can't help that the Feds are requiring all this homeland security stuff and not giving the states the money to cover it. So, instead they stop hiring "non-essential" people because the budget gets so badly buggered. Pair that with the lost revenue as more jobs are lost, and...well, it isn't entirely his fault. I hate being in a field that is so heavily dependent on the public sector. *sighs* But it's something that I love to do when I do have a job, too...

I'm a geographer/cartographer. It's been a pretty brutal couple of years in my field.

Yeah, I love doing it. I have a GIS (Geographic Information Systems; computer mapping) program on my PC here. When they had the controversy over the Texas US House redistricting last month, I drew up some maps of what the new districts were going to look like. I'm that much of a geek. ;)

LOL

Eric and I really thought that BOB was just some random guy who wandered in! It wasn't until he mentioned Mooglegirl that we knew better. How funny! :-)

I think I want to have BOB's babies. He was making a little seating chart on a sugar packet so he would remember people's names. It was awesome!

Aww that's so cute! Luckily I already knew most of the people's names. Except for the blonde chick I knew who everyone was! :-)

This is all good and well-deserved news. You and Kieron deserve some fun. I'm glad you love the apartment and I didn't detect too much hyperventilating about the move-- which takes a lot of courage. Solid work, Madam Jude.

Oh, I did my share of hyperventilating. Just don't tell anyone.

Fondly,
Jude Sheets
