There is little more aggravating than:

• purchasing something you really want online


• wanting it enough to actually bother to trace its progress through the production chain


• being told on Wednesday that your order was sent to shipping


• waiting around on Friday for the 2-Day FedEx package to arrive


• calling the company to find out what's up when it doesn't show


• being told that they screwed up the order and it's being filled again


• and will be ready for shipping on Tuesday or Wednesday

ARGH!

I'm very anal about such things. I require Tracking numbers from FedEx shipments and I track them like a crazyperson thru thier progress. Of course, its very stressful too.

The irritating thing (to me) is that the production people obviously /knew/ that it got sent back to the start because it was screwed up, but never thought to notify the buyer about the wait.

Yeah, I know YOU selected "Go to Cleveland" and sacharine selected "Go to Cleveland" but it's not likely that we WILL "Go to Cleveland" because we can't "Go to Cleveland" and "Go to the Ren Faire" at the same time, since "Go to the Ren Faire" requires going to Harveysburg, OH (or some other such place that is south of Columbus on I-71.

I actually work at such a company.
We have automated responses for customers in this situation. Lemme see if I can find it... hmmm... ahh, here it is...
