Okay, weird.

So this morning I woke up and noticed that our internet was still not working at home. When I called Time Warner last night, they ran some test and determined that the modem was fried. (No surprise, it's been going in and out for about a month.) I futzed with it a little and called it, a la John Carter. This afternoon I called the cable company to cancel the service since, well, it's not working anyway.

I packed a bunch of stuff when I got home from work and ignored the office, so I wouldn't feel sad and internet-less.

And then I came into the office to throw out some stuff, and I saw the happy and familiar blinking orange activity light on the cable modem. HOORAY!

Free internet! (Until they really come and shut it off, that is.)

Don't expect it to last too long. When they cut it off, they cut it off. Quickly. That's what happened with our phone. (Cable, I think, they left on until we turned the hardware in...and kept billing until we turned it in, as well.)

Well, I'm not scheduled to turn the cable modem in until Saturday. If they want to bill us until then, that's cool - but the lady on the phone today told me they were stopping the billing as of yesterday (since it didn't work yesterday anyway).

Aah well.
