I think it's so sad that you can spot autism in a child that is only 1 1/2.

(Well, I think it's great that you can get an early diagnosis and start services early, but you know what I mean.)

We have a friend that J met in med school... her daughter was diagnosed at age 2... her son was diagnosed as an infant. Her marriage has since fallen apart. She bought husband and kids a house in Maine and the kids attend special autistic schools. She lives in Rhode Island but supports both households so that husband can spend full-time with the kids.

Wow, that's tough. I know several families with kids with PDD (Pervasive Developmental Delay, on the autism spectrum) and they are always /so afraid/ of having a second child on the spectrum. Gah.
