Well, in all of the activity around here I never mentioned that I received e-mail a week and a half or so ago from a Human Resources person at ODJFS, stating that I'd passed that job candidacy exam I took when Jennifer and I were in Columbus last month. This past Thursday I got a call from a woman at ODJFS about scheduling an interview for the job.

Unfortunately I had to call her back and tell her that I couldn't even think about it right now, that there is too much going on here, and I asked that I continue to be considered in the future if possible.

Right now moving to Columbus is just not a possibility, and it makes me sad that I was so close to landing a secure, well-paying job with career advancement... just a little bit too late.

Aah well, hopefully this means something better is around the corner out here.

I don't know about other state agencies, but when I got my job at UMass, it took 4 months from application deadline to start date. And that was considered extremely quick; the average hiring process for professional staff took about 6 months.
