Okay, so with all of the craziness in my life, I forgot to send A. a birthday card. His birthday was Friday, August 12. (A. is my ex-spouse, for those of you playing along at home who don't know.) "No big deal," I thought, "I'll just call him on Friday." But on Friday I raced from work to RI, and then spent the evening in RI, and I just plain forgot. So yesterday I called him and left him an apologetic message on his voicemail wishing him a happy belated birthday.

Today I got a voicemail back from him telling me that it's okay that I forgot to call or send a card, because MY GRANDMOTHER sent him one!

!!!

(True story - my grandmother keeps a card file of everyone's birthdays on it, and when people die or whatnot she quite literally crosses them out. So A.'s exact words were, "I guess I'm back on the list!" I almost died laughing.)

Oh, that's too funny.

I always mean to become the one who buys 50 cards in January, stamps them, and sends them all out on the first of the month. But I never do.

We should all take a few lessons from my grandmother. She totally buys all the cards for the month at the beginning of the month, fills them out and addresses them. She writes the event date where the stamp goes and then slaps the stamp on at the correct time. She is amazing!

(I'm guessing she got A's new address because he sent her a sympathy card. But oy! He's back on the list and Jen's never been on the list! *sulk*)

Yeah, I suck at it, too. Blah.

My family does the same thing.

My ex girlfriend who I remain friends with (not best friends)still calls and talks to my Aunt and my Aunt actually goes to visit her. Which isn't so bad but aunt also talks and calls my ex girlfriend ex. Who hates me. So it is super weird. I try to explain that maybe she should step away from it and say goodbye but she insists.

Okay, you've just convinced me that it's not that bad - because I am quite confident that no one in my family is going to call my ex-husband. Ever.

Himself's mother sent me a birthday gift this year. After blinking in disbelief, I wrote her a thank-you note -- and it's high time to send it, so thanks for the reminder. (:

Yep, I already bought her card and we're taking her to Mohegan Sun for her special day. :)

Thanks for the reminder.
