Tax Ahoy!

Just finished filing my Federal taxes online. I guess I have my deductions all correct and everything, since I'm getting a little teensy bit back. I'm not complaining. Hello, money!

I'm frustrated, though, because I couldn't file my State return. I had to file my Federal return as "single" because the poopyhead Feds won't recognize my legal marriage, but then when I went to do the State part, there was no way for me to change it and it would only let me file State as single.

And I don't /want/ to file as single (and it wouldn't technically be legal anyway, since in this State we /are/ married)... so I didn't file. Poo. bellabooks had told me that when she did her tax return there was a spot in her State return that asked if she was in a same-sex marriage or something like that... but not mine. I guess when Jen comes home I'll do her taxes with a different free tax prep company and see if something comes up. Otherwise, we'll just have to get forms for our State return and mail them in.

Jen's return is always much more exciting, though. Those big student loans have to count for SOMETHING.

(My student loan interest - $190. Her student loan interest - $4500.)

My student loan interest was $155, but for whatever reason they rounded it down to $135 on my return :(

That's weird, the rounding down.

I think I owe about $4000. A nice, manageable number. Jen's loans scare the crap out of me.

I sure am. Plane tickets to Boston are crazy expensive so we're flying to Providence and taking a train. I'll be there Sat, April 15th (evening) through Tuesday afternoon. If lunch or coffee Sunday works for you, let me know! Right now I'm thinking I'll do the Freedom run that morning, then go to the race expo around 9am. I may go to the Blue Man Group performance that afternoon at 2, so sometime between that would be best for me...

Do you need a pick-up from the PVD airport that Saturday evening? I'm in RI an awful lot visiting my grandparents and stuff and could just as easily bop you back up to Boston with me. Just a suggestion. :)

Lunch on Sunday would also work. Just remind me. I'm terrible at planning this far in advance.
