Dear Insomnia,

You are no friend of mine. I am tired of being wide awake for 1-2 hours between 3 and 5 a.m. It's boring and Jen is sleeping and the cats are sleeping and the baby is sleeping and I just lay there. Sucks.

No love,
me

~//~

Dear Progesterone,

You sure make some interesting dreams. This morning I am especially thankful for the dream where there was a four-alarm fire down the street from my house... and the part where the city came and cut down all of the trees on my property.

Yesterday's was the REAL winner, though, because it was my first "Bad Mama" dream. I don't know how it is at all helpful to dream about losing one's newborn baby for several days, but hey, better in a dream, right?

Amused,
me

~//~

Dear BLT,

You are so delicious. I know that you have almost no nutritional value but I cannot resist you.

Much love,
me

i totally had the same insomnia when pregnant with greta. that's when i started taking 1/2 a unisom before bed. it made a HUGE difference in my ability to fall back asleep after i would wake up to pee. just a thought on something you might want to try (obviously, it's safe to take while pregnant).

Unisom is the same medication as in Benadryl, right? Because that makes me all wiggy.

I've actually never taken any kind of sleeping pill in my life. I would give it a shot if I was waking up feeling tired or if it wasn't Bendryl, though. :)

you know, i have no idea. but benadryl doesn't have any effect on me (other than helping with allergy stuff), and unisom helped. so i don't know! you could call your ob and ask.

i had never taken a sleeping pill before either. but it really made a huge difference. i ended up taking it my entire 2nd and 3rd trimester.

Interesting. I will have to look it up and see what kind of medicine is in it.

Unisom is different than benedryl. I LOVE it when I am having a string of nights where it's hard to sleep. Usually one about an hour before I want to go to bed does the job and then I will sleep well for many days after as well.

Interesting. I am trying to be all med-free but if it becomes a real problem I will look into unisom.

You could try Tylenol PM - one of those works like a charm for me. But don't buy the generic kind, they can make you feel like you've been mugged.

I will have to look it up and see what's in it, and find out if it's one of those safe things.

Whateve...

bacon - protein
bread - grains
tomato - fruit
lettuce - vegetable
mayo - fat

It looks like it hits all the food groups to me. ;)

Food groups??!

Oy, you just betrayed your age. (Mine, too!)

It's the FOOD PYRAMID now, baby!

(They shake it up every few years just to see if we're all paying attention to us, and so the next generation can laugh at how unenlightened the previous one was.)

Dear Jude,

I'm sorry I've disappointed you so much as of late.

I'd like to go to counseling and reconcile. I want to spend a lot of time with you over the next two or three years, at least. You mean that much to me.

Love,

Insomnia

Dear Jude,

Now you're just playing hard-to-get. It's cute, really.

I'll send you jewelry and flowers soon, I promise. Just as soon as I get my next paycheck. Erhm...and pay my buddies for the beer they covered for me last time we spent all night hanging out. And...

Oh never mind.

Forget it. While I was writing this, I met someone else anyway.

We can still be friends.

Fondly,

Insomnia

Get over yourself!
