Gah, my arms are killing me. I feel like I spent all of last night lifting weights, only I still haven't gotten to the gym yet.

Yesterday after work, I went to [livejournal.com profile] eeka13's place to help her and Molly move all of Molly's stuff in. I managed to score the job without stairs (they live on the 3rd floor) for the most part by being the person who pulled stuff out of the truck and passed it on to the other people, mostly this dude Peter who was an incredibly workhorse. Jen joined me when she got out of work, too, which was nice.

At the end of the moving, Peter and I took up most of the furniture and mattresses, everything that required two people. (But still, better than doing stairs all night like he did.) But we got some free yummy pizza and all in all it was a pretty good time, for moving. Besides, lots of people help us move and so I always try to be there when people need help. (Especially Wiley and Hoo, you guys have always done so much big heavy moving for me!)

Today after work, Jen and I drove to RI to empty eons of crap out of the basement. My brother had rented a dumpster for the auction house people and they only filled about half of it, so we filled the other half with basement stuff. (This was a heck of a lot easier than the attic, let me tell you.) There's still quite a bit of stuff left in the basement but we made pretty good headway and did a couple of hours worth of work, so it's all good.

With the auction people taking all of the collectible stuff out, and with the attic completely empty, and with a chunk of stuff removed from the basement, things are looking a little more manageable. There's still the rest of the basement to finish (maybe another dumpster, who knows?) and some more stuff to get rid of in the house, and then I need to call some non-profit to see if I can have them pick up some random odds and ends and maybe the non-antique furniture. Then there's the issue of the stuff in all of the garages, but I'm not sure what that's going to entail just yet. Argh.

All this post-holiday running around means that I still can't completely shake this cold, which is a major pain in the butt. Every time I start to feel better I overdo it, and then I feel like a trainwreck again. I haven't stopped sneezing since I left eeka and Molly's!

Related to nothing, I need one of those things you rest your laptop on so it doesn't burn your lap. Ouch! Hot pants!

There's something therapeutic about laundry. I don't know what it is, if it's something as simple as clean, crisp items coming out of a warm dryer or what. All I know is that there are three deliciously clean loads of laundry neatly folded on our kitchen table and it gives me some sort of peace. (Of course, I would have more peace if it moved itself into drawers and closets, but hey, small steps.)

I also started the mammoth task of burning picture/data/music files onto CD from Turd Ferguson (my old computer) so I can bring them over to the new one. I've also started stripping the computer of random files and programs in the event that we give away/donate the machine somewhere. When I can get the beast off of my desk, life will be even better. Clutter, how you mock me so!

Soon I will be able to listen to 40 kabillion Fifteen mp3s. Good times!

You know, I'm almost through all of the CDs that I actually want to listen to with some regularity. After those are done (probably 30 more), I can move on to the ones that I might listen to every once in a while, which includes the seasonal stuff. Not a moment too soon for the Christmas music and the Grinch CD. I sure do loves me some Grinch.

We ended up going to IKEA anyway, and it was a total circus over there. We parked a million miles away and bushwhacked to the place and my god, it was just /packed/. Not as bad as Rockefeller Center on tree-lighting night or anything, but still. Wow.

We went with the intention of "seeing what was there" and maybe "holiday shopping for relatives" but did neither. What we /did/ do was end up with a couple of odds and ends for ourselves, including this absolutely adorable storage rack thing for the kitchen that will look so cute when it's all hung up. Other than that, nothing much - a garbage can, some 50¢ placemats, a couple of pieces of new swedish tupperware.

By the time we were in the checkout line, which looked like LaGuardia airport after 9/11 I might add, I was feeling completely exhausted and sick and run down. Yuck. Just in time for work tomorrow. But we did get the sheets washed, and the laundry is half done, and the dishwasher is empty, and the counters have been cleared of assorted junk, and the kitten has had some FREEDOM! (Now put my guts back in.) time careening through the apartment before we could put him back in The Room. My plan is to get to bed in the next 30 minutes. Thanks to the time change I can't sleep past 6am, and those last two late nights (2am or later) with a 6am wake-up are /really/ kicking my butt.

You know, I don't think this crap is interesting to anyone but me. But I guess that's okay, since it's my journal.

I'm typing this entry from bed, with Ralph happily laying across my feet. I guess I get it now why people like this whole wireless thing. It's pretty neat.

What's not neat is having to recreate all of my bookmarks, download all of my applications, and burn and port over all of my music/pictures/whatever. Oh well, I guess I have a project for the next century.

But my Jennifer is the bestest ever ever ever for agreeing to pay the extra money so that I could get out of Windows hell! It's so nice.

Yesterday was a trip to the mall followed by an impromptu dinner at Coworker Gina's house. Good times, except that I couldn't stop yawning and they kept offering me coffee and stuff. I dig me some Coworker Gina.
