  • There's something smugly satisfying about wearing the shirt from my old Boy Scout uniform.

  • ...with my d-y-k-e necklace.

  • I have all of these nice, girly clothes. I've had them for years, and I used to really like wearing them. I keep them, because I like them. And every once in a while, I try to put them on, and I look and feel so ridiculous. But I'm the same person that bought them!

  • I really /do/ think that while I was taking birth control for years, the hormones changed my personality. You can tell by the abrupt shift (and then revert) in wardrobe.

  • But I don't know if I should get rid of those clothes, or keep them in case I have another shift. They're not hurting anyone.

  • Or maybe I've finally discovered the secret to still knowing I'm a girl (when I want to be) even in my most comfortablest clothes.

  • Or maybe I think too much. Actually, I /know/ I do.

  • But what do I do with all of these girly clothes? Save them in case I change my mind again?

  • I need new underwear. But have no income.

  • And I really want boxer briefs. They look so comfortable. Does anyone wear them? Are they?

  • When I wear clothes I don't feel comfortable (emotionally, not physically) in, I lose some of my self-confidence. Does this happen to anyone else?

  • My favorite colors to wear are orange, and olive green.

  • Boobs screw up my clothes.

  • I dress like my [livejournal.com profile] smurfbrother.

  • I want to go thrifting.

  • I ask too many questions.

Are comfy, yes.

You could go commando.

Going commando actually isn't all that comfortable for me. I've done it once or twice, but the only time I ever like being underwearless (besides when I'm naked) is when I'm wearing jammie pants.

Whenever I wear clothes I'm not comfortable in (say, I feel fatter in them, or whenever I wear 'dress-up clothes' versus my old standby jeans and a t-shirt) my whole day feels uncomfortable. I don't smile a lot, I don't look at people's eyes, it's like I try to make myself as unnoticeable as possible. And usually this is just my impressions, because I've had days where I feel /ungodly/ uncomfortable in something that I get /nothing/ but compliments on.

I don't know /why/ this is so, but ever since I noticed that it's true, I've been trying to change it - especially since I have to dress up to come to work. Blech. But you're not the only one who feels that way.

Every time I've worn a dress in the last year or two, I've gotten slathered with compliments about how "pretty" I look. And usually, I'm so damned uncomfortable already that being told I'm pretty usually makes me want to upchuck. And then I'll walk around thinking I look totally hot, and no one tells me I'm pretty.

Heh, I guess I just like the "wrong" kinds of girls. ;)

When I wear clothes I don't feel comfortable (emotionally, not physically) in, I lose some of my self-confidence. Does this happen to anyone else?

This used to happen to me all the time, but in reverse of you. When I was trying to dress like I thought a dyke should--jeans, bowling shirts, chain wallet *rolls eyes*--I felt far less confident. I felt schlubby, which I couldn't understand since all the women I was attracted to looked just like I did. Well, therein lies the rub!

Now, in skirts and girly, low-cut things, I feel most like myself, and therefore more confident.

And I vote: trim the girlie wardrobe to just that which you love, and let the rest go. It could never hurt to have a few girlie things. It's all about options options options.

It's all about what makes ya feel comfortable - definitely.

And that's a good idea about trimming the wardrobe. I did it somewhat when I moved, but I think I could certainly part with some more. Maybe I can sell the stuff to consignment shops, or donate to a place that collects work clothes for women.

Amen for options. I will definitely keep the dirndl.

Well I'm with you on not liking clothes much. Generally if I could wear nothing or my jammies all the time I would feel a lot better about myself physically. HeHe

Oh I wondered... were you a Boy Scout or do you just have a uniform?

For two years, I was a member of the BSA National Council. You see, I was a summer employee of Philmont Scout Ranch, a national "high adventure" base of the Boy Scouts - and to work there, you had to be a registered scout/scout leader.

So yes, I was a Boy Scout. And yes, I have a "dress uniform," though the shorts don't fit me anymore. :)

Boobs SO screw up shirts.

I wear boxer-briefs a lot. They ARE super comfortable, as long as you don't wear them more than 16 hours or so. Like, wearing them overnight gets icky. But otherwise they're so comfy that I make a point of wearing them when my girlybits are owie.

Thanks for the tip. That's good to know!

I agree on the boobs. Mine aren't even terribly big - just enough to be annoying. Ugh.

I wear boxer briefs, along with regular mens briefs and boxers, women's low cut fruit of the loom panties, regular granny panties and thongs. When I'm feeling girly but too silly in girls clothes, I do girly undies, and my regular stuff.

Boxer briefs are grand, but the loose their shape after long wears, and if you're a well-fed girl, they may ride up when they're past their prime... a bonus to that is, you end up looking like you're packing, which works for drag night...

And now all of the world knows about my underpants...

'well-fed girl' is my new favorite expression. I think I'm going to put that on a t-shirt and wear it proudly about.

Thanks :)

hmm, when you are visiting your friends, preferably male friends as they tend to be more likely to own a pair of boxer briefs, sneak into their bedroom/clothes containing area and steal some. chop your boobs off, sell them on ebay, you can buy some clean and new boxer briefs if my previous idea doesn't sound appealing :D

also some number of posts ago you suggested selling an egg to make some money, not sure how serious you are but i'd suggest against it as i'm fairly sure i've heard that fucks your hormones all to hell and back and i'm assuming that would be no good.

I wonder how much I would get for my boobs on eBay...

Yes. I would deal with it, temporarily, for the money, though. Though I'm beginning to understand that they wouldn't take me anyway.

boxer breifs are comfy but it looks like everyone has already told you that. and besides just because they're comfy on me, that doesn't necessarily mean they'd work with the different parts. of course e always took mine so i guess they are. boobs are supposed to screw up clothes. what fun would they be if they didn't? ;)

Sometimes I wear clothes that I feel like I look good in, but then I start to feel bad and then I lose my self-confidence and it all goes to shit. Bah.

Hi. I'm [livejournal.com profile] kreie. I added you. I thought I'd leave a comment because it bugs the shit out of me when people add me and don't say anything.

Hello! I love that frog picture. :)

I know what you mean about losing your self-confidence and then your outfit goes to hell. I have this "requisite black dress" for functions. I wore it to my last graduation and felt like a big goober the whole time. I wore the same dress a month later at a wedding, and felt very sex-ay.

Weird.

i vote no on boxer briefs. too much like bike shorts. also like too-tight sweatpants. regular boxers ok, regular briefs ok. but they're two great tastes that don't taste great together, for me.

when i'm wearing my ridiculous girl clothes it's sorta fun. like playing dress up. but i turn into a completely different person, even more shy and anxiety-ridden than i usually am (which is a lot). it's stressful to be a girl. especially a queer one in a straight venue. but i guess life is like that.

I can definitely relate to that. It seems like if I'm wearing "the outfit" then I start to fall into "the role." I get quieter - I guess I'd never thought about it before you said this, but I do. And try to take up less space. When I wear my regular stuff, I'm my usual loud, obnoxious, spacehog self!

I wish life /wasn't/ like that.

I toyed with wearing my uniform shirt to Pride. Mine doesn't have troop numbers or anything... maybe I'll have to get some to make it look more "official."

I've always looked for Scout shirts at thrift stores but have never found any. :(
