What's in a name?

Does anyone want to pay for me to switch my LJ name from smurfchick to judecorp? I'm so tired of smurfchick. It was never supposed to be something that stuck anyway.

When I was interning at Stonewall Columbus, I was doing a lot of research on Out in Columbus and didn't want to make a profile that would easily be identified as me. I was trying to think of some sort of generic pseudonym and came up with "smurfchick." Then when I was signing up for LiveJournal I tried several names, all of which were already taken. (And this was over three years ago! I can't imagine how bad it is now.) So I defaulted to smurfchick.

I dunno. I just don't feel like it suits me or represents me. What do you guys think?

The smurf is always in me, Young Skywalker. Sometimes I worry about the chick more than the smurf. ;)

I've been associated with smurfs for /so/ /long/. I have smurf stuff up the wazoo. I don't even have it displayed anymore. Maybe that's why I've been feeling disconnected.

If it were me, I wouldn't do it. Oddly enough though, if it weren't for 9 years of people knowing me that way, I'd drop Arwen as my TIM name in a mouse-heartbeat.

It's like the difference between a tattoo you pick at 15 and one you pick at 30.

So I don't get it... you would drop Arwen but I shouldn't drop smurfchick. Why? Because I picked the name in 2001 instead of 1993?

Shoot, I think I'd almost rather be D'Arcy for consistancy, except that I don't like people calling me D'Arcy in public. Or smurfchick for that matter. At least if people wanted to call me judecorp they'd be close to my name. ;)

Okay, so those are totally the best smurfs I have ever gotten.

Not to downplay anyone who gave me smurf stuff, or any stuff that was given, but there's something about this totally hot guy poring through back entries in my LJ for clues about where I lived, locating my apartment, and showing up at my front door with a box of smurf toys. All in answer of an LJ post stating: First person to show up at my front door gets a big kiss.

Not trying to ignore your plea, but when did you intern at Stonewall? My dear dear dear friend was on the board for a while, worked at Col. AIDS Task Force, and now the Ohio Dept. of Health. Just curious if paths ever crossed- her name is Mary O.

I interned there for a couple of months in 2001 - from January to June, I believe. I was introduced to the entire Board of Directors but for the most part didn't see them much, and thus I can't remember any of their names except maybe 2. I don't remember a Mary O., but that doesn't mean our paths didn't cross, yanno?
