Weekend salvaged!
May. 4th, 2008 10:41 pmWe did make it to Pride briefly before Exhausted Baby Meltdown Time:

And then we went to the CT Children's Museum to meet my friend today, too!

Yay!
But tomorrow I have to take Punk BACK to the pediatrician because it would seem that she is having an allergic reaction (rash) to the second antibiotic (augmentin). However, she has no fever and no sickies, so there is that!

Is it tomorrow yet?
May. 2nd, 2008 08:37 pmGot Punk down for a nap and was all set to get some stuff done. I went to the basement, did the clothes swap and was ready to get the diapers in when the phone rang. I had called the pediatrician's office like I was told and thought they were calling back, but it was a guy about a job. And he was going on and on and THEN the pediatrician's office beeped in, so I had to tell him I had to get off the phone. Score one for me on professionalism. Whoops. By the time he called back I was trying to get Punk back down because she had woken up after 35 minutes and was way cranky and overheated. After 30 minutes of rocking I decided to just lay down with her and she slept another hour after that, but then I had to wake her to get us dressed to go to the pedi.
Against my better judgment, I went through the McD drive through with my last dollar and got something off the dollar menu. So food was had.
The pedi scoop is that Punk now has infections in BOTH ears, even though she has been on antibiotics since Monday for an infection in one ear. Poor Punk! Now she has a new, stronger antibiotic and if she doesn't start feeling better in 48 hours I'm supposed to bring her back in. Sigh.
Then we went to CVS to get her antibiotic and they are so crappy at that CVS and we waited forever and didn't get home until after 5:30 (left at 4:05). Then Jen fed her dinner so I could at least take a quick shower.
Since my shower, I: played with a baby, gave a baby a bath, cleaned up the bath, dressed baby for bed, read story, gave bottle and medicine, put baby to bed, cleaned up toys and stuff in living room, washed out formula pitcher, made more formula, cleaned out diaper bag, folded one load of laundry, and did the laundry switcheroo. I need to get more laundry out of the dryer so I can put the diapers in, and then maybe I can scrounge up some dinner. I am wrecked.
There is no way Pride is my future (so sad, sadder still to miss what should have been Punk's First Pride), but I'm holding out a smidgen of hope that the antibiotics are awesome and Punk feels well enough to go to Hartford on Sunday.

May. 2nd, 2008 01:55 pmIt gets better.
Earlier today Jen called from work to tell me she was going to give me a break this evening and that if Punk was still sick, maybe we could talk about me going to Pride tomorrow with the kids from my old job and she would stay home with the baby.
And then she threw up at work, came home, and is back in bed. And Punk's temp is rising and rising despite Motrin, and I anticipate taking her in to the pedi after her nap.
And I need to go wash diapers now, and still have not eaten or showered.
Just keep swimming...

Another busy weekend
May. 6th, 2007 07:11 pmYesterday was Pride and we (work people) were all supposed to assemble at 10am to set up the float. I had been asking for nearly two weeks for an e-mail with the address or name of the actual meetup location, and instead got a lot of shoddy information that was not helpful, like, "You know, so-and-so's work," or "You know, it's on King Street and that's not a very big street." So early in the morning Jen and I drove up and down the street several times looking for a 'medical building' that 'you can't miss' that had a parking lot big enough in which to set up a trailer. When we didn't see ANYTHING that resembled such, I got angry and pulled into a parking lot, where Jen called one of my coworkers (one of the nice ones) to tell everyone that we weren't coming, eff it. I mean, if no one can be bothered to tell me where to go, why should I show up? But in the end, Nice Coworker convinced us to come, and the location was, for the record, NOT on King Street at all but four buildings down a side street off of King Street... and even when told which side street, we still didn't find this elusive hidden parking lot.
The parade was fun, though, and we kept Morgan sane while driving the float trailer and we threw beads and balloons out of the truck. We got to see some nice people that we know, like Eryn! Fun! We stayed at the actual festival for a very short time and then headed out to Emily's baby shower. It was a good time but her dad's girlfriend was an incredibly chatty woman who kept cornering me to tell me lengthy stories. And of course everyone wanted to tell me how SMALL my belly is.
Today we headed to RI to visit the grandparents and do a little early Mother's Day with the grandmother. I was going to try to catch
anitsirk in town and meant to check e-mail from my grandparents' house to see if she was game, but my grandmother was really nervous about an upcoming endoscopy that she is having so it really set me on edge and I wanted to stay there as long as possible. She just kept talking about how everyone she knows has cancer and that she's pretty much convinced herself that she has cancer, too. God, I hope my grandmother does not have cancer. *gulp*
So now we're home, laundry's in, Jen's watching Spiderman 2, and I ate too much fish and chips and currently feel like butt. But I have decided not to let people who like to hurt me matter. Because they don't. Good times.

Weekend Update, So Far
Jun. 10th, 2006 11:33 pmLast night I went over to Kriss (
skreeky) and Jon's house so they could distract me from my misery, which was really very sweet. We ordered chinese take-out and watched some television, starting out with the Sox game, then to part of a Margaret Cho DVD, and then to Sweeney Todd (the demon barber of Fleet Street), which is apparently Jon's favorite musical ever. And he sang a lot, which was really cute. And they didn't even make fun of me when I fell asleep on the couch. (Television always puts me to sleep.)
This afternoon we ventured out in the rain to catch the Pride parade. We couldn't really see very well because it was a veritable sea of umbrellas out there. The weather was horrible, cold and raw and rainy, and people didn't seem to be in much of a festive mood, myself included. The thing that sucks about Pride in Boston - at least the parade - is that it's so un-fun. There are usually like 5 floats with music and dancing, and hardly any gyrating boys or anything. It's all churches and politicians and businesses. Instead of queer people showing off their pride of being queer, it's a bunch of business-y folks trying to get proud people's money and votes.
I guess that's what happens when you live somewhere where there is less of a social struggle, where the gay dollar is ridiculously powerful in terms of gentrification/revitalization, and where all of the politicians are somewhere left of center. I prefer Pride in Columbus which is like a big, fun, freak festival. Bring back the rampant humping on the streets!
We did run into Joanna Corndog, which was fun. Because I like her, and we always say we are going to hang out and we never do. Oops.
Then we schlepped up to Kendall in the rain to do Movie Club with my work people. The movie was Clean and we had dinner at Bamboo in Brighton afterwards. There was no movie discussion, though, because no one really liked the movie. It really was not good at all. I thought the lead actress was very good, acting-wise, but I wasn't into the story... and a lot of the other actors were terrible. Ugh.
Time to clean the cat boxes and then go to bed. I wish we'd remembered to get milk today. It's been several days since I could have yummy cereal.

Hot QLAB Action
Jun. 4th, 2006 10:10 pm1. We've chosen a new sperm bank (Xytex) and our top three donors. I need to call them tomorrow morning and see if it's possible to get all of the paperwork done (by the doctor) and sperm ordered and delivered before my next IUI. Which could be soon. So it's very possible that we missed the boat on switching this month, and I /really/ hope that's not the case. I just couldn't nail Jen down to go over stuff.
2. The new sperm bank guarantees 30 million motile sperm per ml. That is SO much better than the 6mil/60% we've been getting from our current dude.
3. I got my new tshirt that I ordered for Pride on Saturday. It's this one, with red. It's fun! I love modeling Stacy's tshirts!
4. I got home from the grandparents' and went on a whirlwind housecleaning spree. With Jen being sick, there was just... stuff... all over the house. Now it's all gone, the last of the laundry is in the dryer, the dishwasher has been run, and we're ready to start another work week. Jen is home sick tomorrow and Tuesday so hopefully it won't get trashed again.
5. Tomorrow - long day. 8:30am ultrasound and blood work. 9-12 training. 1-3 assessment. 3-5 assessment. 6:30 book club meeting.
6. Book Club read The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night Time. Has anyone read it? What did you think?
